Show o CHICKEN AND STARDOM Picking a chicken may mean just housework to some women, but to Marie Dressier it meant her first act before a camera after her promotion to full-fledged stardom. For this is how she first is disclosed disclos-ed in "Politics," the new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer comedy in which she and Polly Moran romp through the mazes of a municipal election. The new picture will come Sunday to the Victory Theatre. Miss Dressier is a home-loving housewife who, when she becomes disgusted with political conditions in her town, turns into a swash-buckling candidate for mayoress, throws the gauntlet down to the political machine, ma-chine, rallies the women's vote, stages stag-es a "husband strike" to make the men fall into line and rides to official of-ficial triumph amid raids and recriminations, recrim-inations, thrills and even a few heartthrobs. |
