Show FORMER MILFORD GIRL TO STUDY MUSIC IN EUROPE Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, daughter of Mrs. Dan Ferguson, of this city, sailed sail-ed last week for Europe, where she will spend a year in the study of music. Mrs. Martin, who now resides in Las Vegas, was honored with an appreciation ap-preciation program in that city before be-fore her departure, the following account ac-count of which appeared in the Las Vegas Age: The musical appreciation program lust evening at the high school gymnasium gym-nasium was both an artistic and a popular success. The fine and appreciative ap-preciative audience expressed its approval ap-proval of the various numbers by pro-Ion pro-Ion pjed applause. Each of the artists who participated participat-ed fully met the high expectations of the audience. Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, vocalist, and Mrs. Roy W. Martin, pianist, both of whom are leaving today for a year's study in Europe, were received with every sign of affect af-fect and appreciation. Elsie Manion Thomas, the other member of the trio in whose appreciation apprec-iation the concert was given, had the misfortune to sprain her wrist and, although she had returned from Los Angeles for the sole purpose of participating in the program, was unable to play. Nevertheless she shared equally with the others in the regards of the audience who were mindful of the many times she has entertained them. The program was made still more pleasurable by the participation of Louis E. Rowe, Dan Ferguson and Henry Hampton, all of whom sang numbers with fine effect. The last ensemble was especially fine. To close the program Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Martin spoke a few words of farewell and a little prayer of remembrance re-membrance which touched the hearts of all. The party consisting of Dr. and Mrs. Martin anil daughter, Frances, and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, start their automobile trip east. Dr. Martin Mar-tin accompanies tho party as far as Nebraska where their daughter Mazie, will join them. Dr. Martin returning re-turning to Vegas while the others continue on to New York, where they embark for France. They will spend most of their time in Paris, but will take occasional trips :n their Ford, which they are taking across with them, to points of interest. |
