Show NOTES Of THE DELTAHI6H SCHOOL Our new building is practically completed, only a few details remain to be attended to, to give us the use of the auditorium. However, our work is not ended by any means, for we want much new equipment for the gymnasium and the auditorium as well as some stage equipment. New Pianos The music department is al agag because there is a new grand pii.no in the auditorium. There is also a piano in the gym, which will be useful use-ful for the orchestra when they play for school dances. There is a third piano in the music room. The new auditorium will be of tremendous benefit to the music department because be-cause it will furnish them a place large enough for the chorus, etc. to practise and hear how their music sounds in a large hall. The class rooms are too small for this purpose. School Paper The school paper staff is getting busy and say they will have the first issue out before long. The paper is a great thing for the school and a good thing for the town, so we hope to receive the advertising support of the local merchants, At this writing the Year books are not yet out. We refer to the 1924-1925 edition. Of course we would rather wait awhile and get a good book, than to get the in a hurry and have them poorly made, but even so, the book is anxiously awaited by the students. stu-dents. Football The student body organization is running smoothly. They are planning many interesting events for the athletic ath-letic and social departments. The first football game of the season, with another high school will be played Friday with Hinckley. Delta has made as much progress in this line this year as last year, and that is very probable to spell success for us. The classes are warming up for a series of parties for the winter. The Freshman party given on Oct. 21st, was the first, others will follow in rapid succession. The Sophomore Class will entertain enter-tain the Juniors and Seniors at a Hallowe'en party on the evening of October 30. That means tomorrow night, so all you juniors and seniors remember. . The party will start at 8:00 P. M. Games and dancing will furnish the entertainment, and dont forget, this is the night of spooks and witches; goblins and other medieval me-dieval horrors which will be likely to play a part on the program. Enrollment Increases The enrollment is still going up. We may expect it to so continue until un-til after the harvest. A large number num-ber of students from the outside are coming here. There are at present four, busses bringing students from Oak City, South Tract, Sugarville and Woodrow. Besides these, many drive their own car3 in and back every day, and manyNotay in Delta who live too far out to commute or who prefer to live in town rather than drive in and back daily. We hear unofficial reports that Hinckley also has an exceptionally large en-lollent. en-lollent. Here's hoping that our brothers bro-thers across the river have as successful suc-cessful a school year as we expect to have. |
