Show day of June. Progress. We understand that an eight roomed building is being talked of and as compared with the present building it will certainly be inviting and will be thorough- ly appreciated by the Delta district. dis-trict. Yet, before building, let us consider con-sider well. This is a district of something Hke six miles square and all susceptible to intense farming. IIow long will an eight roomed building suffice? Two years, possibly three. The Delta country has just reached a stage where it will develop very raipdly and where school children will increase even more rapidly by influx and by reason of little ones growing up. We believe that the county board would not only not make a mistake but would, within a year or so.be praised for their wisdom and foresight if they made it twelve rooms instead of eight. We have seen the big irrigation projects of Idaho grow and the school children of these communities commun-ities grow in number even faster fas-ter than the projects, and too fast for the schools. At Rupert, whe the Minidoka project had reached about the same stage of development as this project now has they built an eight roomed school house and before the term was out more room ' was being sought wherein to handle the overflow. Like conditions existed exist-ed on the Twin Falls tract and the Big Wood River tract. It would really seem better that we build for next year and the next than to let "every day provide pro-vide for itself." New School House for Delta Size Not Fully Decided Upon. Probably Eight to Twelve Rooms The new county Board of education edu-cation of Millard County was in session in Fillmore most of the present week attending to the various details of getting matters started under the new law which has provided that all counties, which do not contain cities of the first or second class, shall be con- solidated into school districts of the first class. The various boards of school trustees have turned over all business matters connected with their several districts to the new Board as has also the former High School Board of Millard. The new board hereby tenders all the former trustees of Millard County a vote of thanks for the efficient work done in their different dif-ferent districts during their terms of office. The Board elected Rufus Day as president and appointed Al-onzo Al-onzo Huntsman as secretary and Parker Robinson as treasurer. Mr.- Reeve was also elected as vice-president. The work of approving the recommendations re-commendations of the various sehool boards as they formerly existed, was taken up and with . very few exceptions the teachers so recomended were hired in the various districts. On the matter of providing Delta with a new school house the board instructed the secretary and superintendent to obtain figures fig-ures on the entire amount of money which will be available for school purposes in Millard and to present same to them at their meeting, which is scheduled to take place in two weeks. If they find that there will be sufficient money for this work architects will be written to, and a school house of a substantial nature which will answer the present needs of Delta will be built there. The matter of appointing the Superintendent of Education for Millard County School District was tabled until next meeting to allow the Board sufficient time for consideration of the various applicants of which there are four, namely: H. C. Lewis, J. Frank Day, Joseph Anderson and the present Superintendent Dean F. Peterson. After being in session from Monday morning until Thursday noon almost continuously the Board adjourned until the 15th |
