Show HAPPENINGS AT HOLDEN The holidays were celelratel In grand style this year, owing to trie great number of visitors pre tent. Numerous Nu-merous dances and parties wore held, but the crowning event was the great rabbit hunt. In this hunt, ovr forty gunners were present besides an equal If not larger, number of packer. Thl seemed like a detachment of the State militia, but the number of rabbits killed amply repaid every participant for his effort. They killed 2546 of these little animals, or an average of over sixty rabbits to the man. The expense was a little heavy, lie lug over three hundred dollars for ammunition. am-munition. Tills was borne by the gun-uers, gun-uers, but many believe that resident landowners should help pay this because be-cause they receive most benefit from the rlddafice of this pest. An efficient and half as expensive method would be to construct a woven wire corral and then drive the rabbits Into this. More people could take part In the latter lat-ter plan and the danger would not be so great. We were favored by having five visitors vis-itors from Canada during holidays. They were D. F. Stevens and daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Olive Heap and son, and William It. Stevens. They expressed themselves" aslitftrtf Vad a good time'-"'""-" at their old home. Emerson Blackman and Miss Audria Bailey were here from Moroni, visiting visit-ing friends. Ephralm Stewart was here visiting from Meadow. Mis Jennie Watts was here as a guest of Clarence Pratt. Miss Cry of Southern I'tah and Mr. Hearst, of Mexico, were guests of Angus and Melissa Stephenson during dur-ing the holidays. . Wallace Chrlstensen of Ixigan, I'tah. wat a guest of Miss Mattle Stephenson. Stephen-son. Edward Dennett served as host to Messrs. George and Spencer Wright during the holiday. The family of William Wood was fa-ored fa-ored by a number of relatives visiting visit-ing them. The visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dewsnlp, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Bennett; and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Wood. All were from the west side of the county. Lawrence Bennett, Ben-nett, upon being reminded, gave a wedding dance, because of having married a lady from here. Miss Arlene Wood. Our old schoolmaster, L. E. Acord, of Castledale, Utah, was here again, visiting friends. When he left he was never coming back, but Holden evidently evi-dently still holds charms for hi in. Mr. snd Mr. Leslie Thompson spent part of the holidays In Sclplo with Mr. Thompson's parents. Joshua Bennett and wife were here visiting their daughter, Mrs. Austin Ashby. Mr. Neely returned to her home In Salt Lake City. Other visitor were Miss Fay Juste-scn. Juste-scn. of Hinckley. Utah; Mr; and Mrs. Russel Warner, of Fillmore; Mr. and Mrs. Newell Wsrner, Iso of Fill more. Some of the members of tbe Holden ward played "Hazel Kirk" and gave the proceeds toward buying a new church organ. The Primary Association Associa-tion played "The Kingdom cf Mother Goose" to a large and appreciative aud'ence. There are a few people here who are either trying to help us get a new school house, or else they are trying an underhanded scheme of howlng a grudge against somebody, because seven or eight lights were bioken during the holidays. |
