Show IN AND AROUND DELTA !b Week's News from the Comlni Metropolis The animal meeting or the Melville Irrigation Company was held in the ward hall last Monday. About 7.0(H) shares of the outstanding stock wan present lu person or by proxy. President Presi-dent Maxfleld made a statement regarding regard-ing the operations of the company. He said that $0,iMi of the recently Issued stock had been bought by the Deseret Savings bank, and they had the refusal for the balance. Secretary Jeffries .- made his annual statement of re sources, expenditures and liabilities, which was eccepted. On motion an auditor was to be employed to check up the report. In the election'of officers the old board we re-elected with the exception of David Stevens whose place was filled by N. S. Illshop. The people of the South tract have organized a literary society for social recreation and Intellectual Improvement. Improve-ment. The first meeting was held at the home of X. II. Folsotn on December Decem-ber 2S. There was a large attendance and a pleasant evening was enjoyed by all. One feature was a taffy pulling, pull-ing, which left the crowd considerably stuck up. The second meeting was held at the school house and was do-voted do-voted mainly to approving the by-laws. The society will meet the first and third Saturday of each month at 8 o'clock, and every one Interested Is invited to join. The next meeting will be held In the school house next Saturday Sat-urday evening, when an Interesting program will be given. A baby girl was born to Mrs. Wallace Wal-lace Clark on January Stn. Mother and daughter doing finely and the father Is in a fair way of recovery. |
