Show There has been a meeting called call-ed in Salt Lake for next Saturday Satur-day for tiie purpose of forming a press association of the newspaper news-paper men of Southern Utah. We hope that all the paper men of this part of the state will be on hand and take an interest in its promotion. Such an organization organ-ization will be of great benefit to the paper men and the whole of Southern Utah. We have never heard a word from any one with the exception of our South Tract correspondent, correspond-ent, relative to the scheme of building a park on the reservoir fcr the mutual benefit of this valley. We have not become convinced yet however, that this is not the proper time to promote such an enterprise and believe if the people of the various towns and communities were to show an interest in the creation of a park of this kind the matter could be put thru. Remember that next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the registration books will be open all day in the various precincts of the county. Don't forget this as you positively cannot vote at this fall's election if you do not register and the books will not be open again until next fall. In the meantime there will be a school election for trustees, besides be-sides there is likely to be other elections which you will be greatly great-ly interested in and at which you should vote. Every man and woman who can register should do so by all means. Now that the campaign is fairly fair-ly on we will hear a great deal of politics and the matter of saving the country from one standpoint or another. It may be all right when it comes to voting for your senators or con-' con-' gressmen to vote along party ' lines, but when voting for state and county officers it looks to us like mighty poor policy to give your political beliefs any consideration con-sideration in choosing a man to fill an office. If the scales bear down heaviest on the opposite side in the matter of business - ability, honesty and industry vote for the man who is best fitted fit-ted to honestly serve the office he seeks. Politics and party measures have really been a curse to this country in many respects. You will notice in this week's issue of the Chronicle a communication com-munication from its former editor, N. B. 'Dressor, in which he calls attention of the farm readers of the paper to the advantage ad-vantage of the Farm Loan Act, their duty as to taking advantage advant-age of the act and the fact that we are giving the law and its operation considerable publicity. Say, that is just what we are doing and not uncounciously so either. We are sending out something to our 1000 readers almost every week which we hope they will read and think over. We expect to continue sending out such articles until we hear that the farmer is giving giv-ing this matter serious thot and are making ready to take advantage ad-vantage of the benefits of the Farm Loan banks as soon as they become operative. If there is anything which is not plain to any of our readers we will endeavor en-deavor to find an answer if they will communicate with us. We will also gladly publish any items from our readers suggesting the formation of Farm Loan Associations Assoc-iations or the call for a meeting to talk matters over relative thereto. There will probably be three or four months elapse before be-fore the banks are established and ready to do business. In the mean time we would like to see the farmers of this valley lining up with associations and preparing to take advantage of the opportunity which will soon be knocking at their doors. |
