Show PAYING FOR PURSUIT. Congress Authorizes $8,611,000 for Mexico Expedition, Washington. On Tuesday congress rushed through an emergency appropriation appro-priation of $8,611,502 to pay for the pursuit of the ibandits, 'and the state department prepared to press General Carranza for permission to use Mexican Mexi-can railways to solve the troop supply problem. Fears expressed in press reports from the border that failure to obtain ob-tain use of the railroads might seriously seri-ously hamper the pursuit of Villa were not reflected at either the state or war departments. Senator Gallinger, Republican Re-publican leader in the senate, presented present-ed to Secretary Baker a telegram from Senator Fall at El Paso, dealing with the railway and border questions. It declared shipments of gasoline intended in-tended for the American forces in Mexico were being held up by Carranza Car-ranza officials. |
