Johnson of Provo 1 vas here last week to officiate as udge at the M. I. A. District lontest. R. E. Robinson has returned from a business trip into Sanpete ind Juab Counties. The District M. I. A. Contest held here last Friday was rather a one-sided affair. The contestants contest-ants of Millard and Moapa Stakes failing to appear. The Deseret Stake Contestants won by default and will now represent this District Dis-trict at the church M. I. A. Contests Con-tests to be held in Salt Lake in June. Mother's Day was fittingly observed ob-served here last Sunday. Special services were conducted in the afternoon at which a special Mother's day lecture was given by Mrs. Mary Cropper-Reeve. Special musical numbers were furnished by Professor Freely and by the Primary Children. Chil-dren. A welcome home party was given last Sunday evening in honor of Mrs. Jos. Christenson. The welcome address was given by Bishop J. B. Pratt. The missionary mis-sionary responded. Mr. Freely gave a violin solo and the evening's eve-ning's entertainment was concluded con-cluded by an illustrated lecture, "The Granduer of the Rockies" by Miss Eda Cropper, which was very instructive as well as highly high-ly entertaining. On Wednesday evening a musical recital was given in the Academy auditorum by Prof. J. Brook and Prof.and Mrs. Freely. After the recital a dance was given in the gym. which was enjoyed en-joyed by all. Mrs. Hannah L. Cropper apd daughter Eda leave next Friday for Aurora, where they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-lard Wil-lard R. Johnson. Mrs. M. M. Home and her son Aaron, and Mrs. Margaret. Richards Rich-ards are planning to spend next week in Richfield. Miss Sulia Curtis leaves this week for Aurora after having spent the past two years in Hinckley with her sister, Mrs. Joseph Christenson. Mrs. Alfred Bliss has returned to her home in Hinckley after undergoing an operation for appendicitis ap-pendicitis in a Salt Lake. City Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Blake entertained at a suprise party in honor of the birthday of Erma Turner. The evening was pleasantly pleas-antly spent in games, musical selections, etc. The hostess served dainty refreshments consisting con-sisting of sandwiches, crackers, cake, ice cream and punch- The guests were Prof. John Brook and wife, Prof. Freely and wife, H. F. Stout and wife, R. E. Robinson Rob-inson and wife, G. A. Robinson, and the Misses Bertha Stevens, Erma Turner, Eda Cropper, and Nettie Hunter. ; Hinckley Happenings. Our genial merchant, Mr. Thomas Thom-as Pratt is home again after spending a month in Salt Lake City. Mr. Joseph Christenson has returned re-turned home after spending two years in the Northern States Mission. Mis-sion. Mrs. Christenson went to Seattle to meet him and the two made the return trip by way of California. Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Stout are the proud parents of a baby girl. The new arrival was born at the home of Mrs. Stout's parents par-ents in Murray, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Stephenson Stephen-son visited with Principal and Mrs. L. A. Stephenson for a few days last week on their return from St. George where they recently married. Both are well known here; the bride, formerly Miss Hattie Mackelprang, taught school here one year, and Mr. Stephenson was a student at the Millard Academy. The townspeople towns-people all wish them a pleasant voyage on the sea of matrimony. Willford Welch, who has been employed as a school teacher here the past year, returned to his home in Paradise, Utah last week. Two of the children of President Presi-dent Alonzo A. Hinckley, Arza and Nellie are reported as being very ill. Dr. Broaddus is in attendance. at-tendance.
