II. Turner, who in company with others, is developing a copper cop-per mine out on Deseret mountain, moun-tain, was in town today and reports re-ports that the company will begin be-gin in the near future to haul ore to Sugarville for shipment. Mr. Turn-, r states that there are two other companies, the Lucky Shepherd on Flinere and the Blaine in Death's Canyon which expect soon to begin, hauling ore to Sugarville. Mr. Turner says that while there is no mining boom in the country north of here the showings which have been obtained so far look very encouraging, and intimates that while there is no "gold lying at the grass roots" indications point to the development of a good mining territory there with the proper amount of work and encouragement en-couragement put forth in the district. He further informs us that the people of Eureka recently have been encouraging the construction con-struction of a good road from their town to this part of the country and not long ago a col-leetion col-leetion was taken up to build a road from Eureka to the Rockwell, Rock-well, ranch and in a very few'' hours those active in the matter, secured $500 to be expended on the road. This is sufficient to put the road in good shape to the Rockwell ranch Mr. Turner says as much more will complete a good road from here to the ranch. If this were done, he . says, there would be many peo-. peo-. - pie come down from the mining camp every .Sunday to enjoy the ride and look over the country. " There being some very beautiful scenery from the Rockwell rancli to Eureka.. He further says that j if the connecting link were made from the North Tract to the Rockwell ranch it would furnish the best possible road between j here and Salt Lake City. This j would be line if it is possible to! make this excellent road to the j city. With the growing popularity popular-ity of the All-year-round route between Salt Lake and Southern California a great deal of this travel could be diverted thru the valley and we would obtain a good deal of publicity as well as a considerable increase of revenue. reve-nue.
