Show A HEROIC RESCUE. Harvey Poc ck erforiiied a deed of valor last week that surely entitles him to the Carmgie medal. He was taking home a couple of young laJles In his biiKgy. He came lo a canal, and, of course, there was no bridge, in fact, none for five or six miles along the canal. He had a good h rse and though the buggy w asn't p'atined for a boat he thought he could drive across the canal all right, but when they got into the canal the horse couldn't pull it up on the other side and begun plunging. With remarkable re-markable pieeiice of mind I he young ladle Jumped out of the buggy Into the canal. It was at least three feet deep and Harvey einii that they were In immediate danger of downing. down-ing. Jumped In after them without a moment's hesitation and regard: of what might happen to his good clothe. Taking one young l.idy under each arm he struggled up the slippery bank and deposited them on the ground In ra'her a sorry looking oniltlon, but they were still alive. The only injuries in-juries received was to tlwir clothe. Harvey believe that a bridge l one of the immediate necessities along this part of the ranal. |
