On Friday evening of last week a birthday party was given In th brick school house on tbe west side in honor of the list blrtbdsy of the mother of Geo. D. Shipley. All tbe people of tbe neighborhood were out to do honor to the occasion and the school house was crowded. The principal prin-cipal amusement was dancing to the strslns of 8. II. Thompson's violin.
