Gooding, Idaho.- The horse thief and stlckup roan that has been making mak-ing free with the peace of three coun. ties was apprehended at Galena, a ranger station about thirty-live miles north of Ketchum. Tbe follow, who was given a different differ-ent name every time he was asked, stole a horse and saddle from a barn at Ullss, rode from there to Camas prairie and held up a saloon. He then returned to Bliss via the shearing corrals In the mountains, where he raised csln generally. Constable Plnkham of IlHss. noticing notic-ing that he answered the description of tbe man wanted, arrested him and took him to the hotel and phoned for Sheriff Illlss at Gooding. While phoning, phon-ing, the prisoner walked out and whet pursued took a shot at Plnkham with bis rifle, of which tbe constable bad neglected to relieve him. Plnkham abandoned the chase and nothing w as done till Sheriff Ullss took op the trail. He tracked the man by means of an oddly shaped horseshoa and followed him nearly to Gooding, then north over the Sawtooth Mountains Moun-tains and up Willow Creek. The forest for-est rangers were notified to watch for tho man and horse and when he showed show-ed up st Galena he was Invited to stay all night It was his Intention to do so until a second ranker afxan-d on the scene, but when h attempted to leave the invitation in-vitation was repeated at the point of a rTolvr The sherl.T arrived half an hour Inter. |
