The "500" Club was entertained at the Coleman home. The evening was spent in playing cards. Mrs. Joe Pargis winning first prize; Kate Hayes the second and Viola Angell the cut. A very delicious luncheon was served and the following members mem-bers were present; Effie Allen, Eunice Eu-nice Nielson, Viola Angell, Mrs. Joe Pargis, Margie Greathouse, Kate Hayes, Jennie Huddleston, and A-delia A-delia Coleman. Mrs. Marie James ' and children returned from Beaver after spending spend-ing a few weeks with her parents, M-S Blain Cox. Mr. James Smith spent Saturday in Salt Lake with his family and to see his new granddaughter, i Mrs. Ila McGraph of Richmond, California and son, Calvin, are visiting vis-iting with her mother, Mrs. Hulda Clark, also with M-S Roy Clark. M-S John Dutson went to Bluff-dale Bluff-dale to visit their daughter, Mrs. Deola Turner, whose husband is leaving soon to join the Navy. M-S Otto Ivie and family spent Saturday in Springville visiting with Mrs. Luttie Watts and Mrs. Ivie's brother, who was home on a furlough. He had been in Alaska three years. He is Av. MM Burns Watts of Springville, but formerly of Leamington. The parents of the registered Scouts entertained at a banquet in the church Wednesday night in honor of Orland Jacobson's birthday. birth-day. He is the Scout leader. Long tables were tastefully decorated with yellow and white chysanthe-mums chysanthe-mums and blue and yellow candles. A blue and yellow birthday cake formed the center piece. Toasts were given by Bishop Lile Johnson, Saul Angell, Dick Hiyes, Guy Sheriff, Sher-iff, Reed and Cleade Nielson. Mr. Lewis Woodbury sang, Erma Roper gave a piano solo, Ervin Whatcott played a guitar and sang, Eleanor Nielson, Tressa Terry, Mary Johnson John-son and Leda Greathouse sang. The banquet was served by the following fol-lowing girls, Jeanette Simpson, Donna Ivie, Marylin Terry, Clorean Johnson and Barbara Hayes. Three patrols gave stunts, Dick Hayes, Allen Sheriff, Darold Whatcott, Que Jay Nielson, Don Earl Greathouse, Robert Angell, Tillman Johnson, Norman Johnson, Kent Nielson and Bob Nielson. Darold Whatcott represented rep-resented the Scouts and presented the honored guest with a book entitled, en-titled, "This Day and Forever." Mr. Jacobson was pleasantly surprised by the arrival of his mother, Mrs. Eddie Jacobson of Oak City, and Mrs. Jacobson had as her guest her sisters, Mrs. Wayne Smith of Green River and Mrs. Ralph Petersen of Manti. A very enjoyable evening was spent and Mr. Jacobson took a picture of the entire group. Mery Johnson arrived home Saturday Sat-urday after having visited with her brother in Fillmore who is going into the Marines! M-S Peter H. Peterson, Nelda Roundy, Lillie Roundy and Mrs. Styler visited with Thelma Clark Sunday evening. Carl Gunn went through Lynn-dyl Lynn-dyl last week and a few of his friends saw him and reported he was looking fine. M-S Peterson, Nelda and Lillie Roundy and Mrs. Styler of Oasis attended the Sunday night meeting meet-ing where Mr. Peterson gave a very interesting talk. Mrs. Pauline McBride and children child-ren spent the weekend in Salt Lake visiting her mother. Her sister, Miss Ruth South, returned with Mrs. McBride to spend a few weeks Sunday evening Neva Harvey entertained en-tertained at a Pinochle party. Home made candy and cake were served. M-S E. R. Grupe, of Milford, spent Thursday with M-S Tom Campbell. Miss Beverly Larsen spent the weekend visiting her parents, M-S Reed Larsen. Mrs. Tressa Terry was a Delta visitor Tuesday and enjoyed the lecture. M-S Wallace Allen, Mrs. Mae Miller and son, Billy, spent Monday in Provo shopping and visited with M-S George Godfrey and family. |
