Show John H. Hilton Will Be 87 On Friday, Nov. 17 John II. Hilton was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 17th 1857. He is a son of Hugh and Isabella Pilkinglon Hilton and is the last surviving member of his entire family. fa-mily. John grew up in Virgin City, and was active in the civic, social and church affairs. He acted as ward teacher, Jiome missionary school trustee, constable, etc. He was a farmer and cattleman and tells many stories of exciting experiences while riding the range and working under pioneer conditions. condi-tions. He married Maria Parker on June 1st 1881, in the St. George i Temple. In 1900 the family moved to Abraham, Millard Co., where he helped pioneer the new project. Here he served as Supt. of the Sunday Sun-day School, school trustee, and as Presiding Elder of the Abraham branch of the Hinckley Ward before be-fore moving his family to Hinckley Hinck-ley in 1910. His wife died in 1923, and he went to Salt Lake and Mesa, where he did Temple work for many years. In 1934 he married Mrs. Caroline Blair in tne Mesa .Temple. They are now living in Delta. He has 11 sons and daughters. They are: Mrs. Isabel Hinton of Hurricane. Mrs. Annie Bishop and Wilford Hilton of Delta; Eugene Hilton and Mrs. Hazel Allen of Oakland, Calif.; Hugh and Roy Hilton Hil-ton of Hinokely; Ivin and Virgil Hilton of Salt Lake; Clement, Hilton Hil-ton of Denver, Colo.; and Lyle Hilton Hil-ton of Alburquerque, New Mex., who is now in the U.S. Navy. He has 58 living grand children, (15 grandsons are now in our armed arm-ed forces) and 3d great grand children. |
