Show Record Rains Fall During First Part of Week A rainfall which started late Sunday Sun-day night and ended on Tuesday left a total precipitation, as measured mea-sured at the airport, of 3.21 inches. This is considered a record rainfall for this district. It caught many of the beets still unharvested, and in some instances instan-ces the harvest will have to be done next spring. It is estimated that about one-fifth of the seed is still in the fields and considerable damage will result and the farmers farm-ers who were that unlucky will lose money. The rain ran into many basements base-ments about town and did a lot of damage to goods stored there. Gutters Gut-ters were filed to capacity and large ponds accumulated in the low places that will remain for some time to come. The Oak City hills received a heavy precipitation which will help the water situation there. Dry farms and farmers who have in their fall grain will benefit materially. mater-ially. The official reading from Deseret was 2.91 inches precipitation, higher high-er than arty recorded there. |
