Dwight Moody left Saturday Satur-day to go back to Delaware after spending a ten day furlough at home. Seaman first class Rex Carter son pf M-S Byran Carter of Hinckley Hinck-ley came home on a 21 day leave this week. Rex has been around the world since he left here over a year ago and has had many experiences. ex-periences. Recently he was to the port whore the invasion was made on D. day. Dana Pratt has to report for his physical on Sept. 6. Four Hinckley boys were honored honor-ed at the M.I. A. summer party held on the Seminary Dawn Tuesday evening. The boys were Wayne Humphries who will be going in soon and M. P. Charles Knight, Seaman First Class Rex Carter and Seaman Ray Steffins. These boys are all home on furlough and leaves and were presented with a gift from the Ward. Rex told of his experiences which have taken him 'around the world during the past year. Games, conducted by Joe Buchanan Buch-anan were enjoyed by the large crowd. Hot dogs and the trimmings trim-mings were then cooked around the large bonfire. Everyone bad an enjoyable time. Cpl. Gerald B. Huff returned last week to his post m South Carolina after spending a few days with his wife, the former Rae Starloy, and his son. Cpl. Huff was on a military assignment and was permitted per-mitted a few days leave on his return trip. Mrs. Huff accompanied him as far as Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin H. Jones were very much surprised Sunday when their son, Don C. Jones S F 2 c came home for a very short furlough. fur-lough. He will be leaving for overseas over-seas again very soon. Lavar Ellis joined the Navy last week and is taking his boot training train-ing at Farragut. His father. Joseph T. Ellis, went to Salt Lake with him when he enlisted. |
