Show Air Force Wants Pracitce Bombs Returned to Them Besides Being Dangerous, Bombs Cost $75 each Brice Woods, Commander of the American legion Post, has received a request from the Army Air Force For-ce asking the legion help them recover re-cover the bombs taken from the bomber which crashed near the Swazey Mountains. About 30 of the practice bombs were taken by local people as souvenirs before the Air Force had enough guards around the plane to stop them. These bombs are' loaded with a light charge of explosive which is sufficient to blow the bomb up with a pressure of 1,000 pounds a square inch, which would be very dangerous to anyone close when the explosion occurred. The Air Force explains in the letter to Mr. Woods that they are not so concerned con-cerned about the bombs being stolen sto-len as they are about the possible damage they may do if not properly pro-perly handled. A group of Hinckley boys are reported re-ported to have taken one apart and burned the powder they found in it, causing them severe powder burns about the face and hands. If you have one of these bombs you are asked to contact Mr. Brice Woods, or any member of the local American legion. |
