Show NORTH TRACT Dear Folks, I submit for your vote the minutes min-utes of the last Jollv Stitchers club meeting: Jan. 14, 1944, the J. S. C. met at the home of Mrs. W. R. Walker. The nightly pot-luck supper sup-per to have been held at the home of Mrs. Walker was postponed until un-til this Saturday night and then it will be at Mrs. Lafe Morrisons instead. Mrs. Walker has gone to Salt Lake for medical treatment. Few members were present at the afternoon session but the din was about as usual and all who were present were put on committees commit-tees for the next year. Mrs. Lafe Morrison was appointed chairman of the entertainment committee. Mrs. Delapp, chairman of the program pro-gram and Mrs. Wm. Walker, chairman chair-man of the Sunshine Com. Letters from Mrs. Heinlien and Mrs. Eva Erickson to the club were read and appreciated.- Some dues were paid. We thought we were going home without the usual refreshments but finally Mrs. Walker did get around to passing some home-made candy and pop-corn balls. Mrs. Ferrel Walker was a guest. Everyone bring your husbands and your dish of food and gome out Saturday evening to the Saturday Party. Tex Mosley and his wife dropped in town for a short visit Friday evening. Carol and Mrs. Egan visited vis-ited the W. R. Walkers while Tex dashed up one street and down another an-other to see everybody he could in the short time he was here. Tex looked swell in his uniform snappy snap-py and happy, we'd say. He drove a new car. His wife's folks and Tex's mother having gone down to the graduation at Luke Field. We have always thought of Tex as about the best mixers with plenty of "it". And by the way his name is Lieut. Lonnie L. Mosley, thats what his wife and the army call him. He felt a little low on the financial side with car payments, etc., but don't worry for Tex will make it. He always has. A few friends were over at Ted Thorntons for his birthday. The men played high five and the ladies la-dies played Flinch. Ted is pretty well confined to the house these cold days. They said the open house for Uncle J. Shields was a very nice affair and many friends called. At last the Ashbys were able to leave this Wednesday morning. The OPA's were a little slow in understanding un-derstanding the way matters stood. The Claytons have bought the Ash-by Ash-by farm always glad to have home folks for neighbors. We're happy to report Leo Davis still holding his own with a promising prom-ising better future. My goodness everyone in Sutherland Suth-erland will be worn out next week Gold and Green Tuesday night, Tea at the Johnsons for Merle and her young man, Wednesday Party for Kenneth and June, Thursday evening a shower and party for Vera Bunker and her new husband, Mr. Paxman, Friday evening J. S. party, Saturday night all fine people whom we are glad to honor. hon-or. Were all mighty glad to see Mrs. Elma Brown come to her grandson's grand-son's funeral (Marvin Erickson). Mrs. Brown (formerly Mrs. M. A Abbott) lived here for many years and was a grand neighbor. She now runs a restaurant in Mesa, Arizona, with the help of her daughter, Anna. An-na. Otis is in the army. Bessie in the east. We all remember Bessie as having gone far in her singing. We were mighty glad Valene and her husband Mr. Woods could come and Gwyen and Johnny Cline. Although Al-though sad the occasion it was good to meet old friends. Bob Oppenheimer has been moved mov-ed up to Corpus Christi. Several Delta boys are there. Sutherland has started something and we hope they keep it up. Under Un-der the direction of Bryce Woods, the brush has been railed and burned at the grave yard. It could be made a nice little plot with a well and concerted effort. After all it is the schools and churches and cemeterys that holds little towns together. Scotty Blair has gone away to work in defense work. Max Shields, Billy Clark and Hollis Done, wno are home from Farragut, Idaho, are being entertained at suppers and family parties. We have just learned that Leo Davis will be operated on soon. Venice leaves Friday morning to be with him. We sincerely wish for the best for him. It's pretty cold so news don't circulate cir-culate too much. If you know of any shoot it our way. Please. Jay Bea. |
