Show Holden Boy Wins Award In Meat Contest John, Stephenson, of Holden. County, winner in the Thomas E. Wilson Meat Animal contest, together to-gether with Ronald Robins and Melba Ivie. of Scipio, County winners win-ners in the Soil Conservation and the Kerr Canning contest, respectively, respec-tively, were'given awards Sunday in Sacrament Meeting in the two communities by the Assistant County Agent. . John Stephenson was awarded a gold medal and a $25 War Bond for his outstanding work in raising purebred herefords and prize beef steers..' 'John started -out in club work when he was 10 years old and has had many, outstanding projects since; both in 4-H and high school Vocational Agricultural work. He values his present herd of herefords at $1225. Melba Ivie was awarded a gold medal for her very fine work in home canning. She has had 4 years in 4-H club work. Ronald Robins was awarded a gold medal and a $50 war bond for his fine record in club work and for his interest in the prevention preven-tion of soil erosion. Ronald has been in 4-H club work for five years and at present owns 5 purebred pure-bred herefords with which he has won numerous prizes. Ronald has built 13 rock dams and two concrete con-crete walls. He and his Father plant to plant a permanent pasture pas-ture next spring. |
