Show Millard's Share In Victory Loan Set at $280,600 Millard County's share in the Victory Loan Drive, Oct. 29 to Dec. S, is $194,000 in Series "E" bonds it was announced this week by the County Chairman Homer Petersen of the Utah War Finance Committee. Committ-ee. The total quota for the drive that ends all bond drives, and the drive that is needed to finish the job of paying for the war is $280,600. "This is a substantial reduction from our quota in the 7th Loan, and with farm income and individual individ-ual bank deposits at their all time high, I have assured State Chairman Chair-man Charles L. Smith that Millard County will not be satisfied with just meeting its quota," said Mr. Petersen. "I pledged that Millard County will do more than its share toward over-subscription of Utah's 11 million mil-lion "E" quota. Millard County's delegation to the , statewide Victory Loan Conference Monday in Salt Lake City heard George Albert Smith, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Lat-ter Day Saints, predict that Utah, "as in the past," will do more than its part in the drive. Addressing the 300 assembled volunteer vol-unteer bond salesmen Elder Smith said: "This is our last chance to give the nation a final push on the road back to peace. I know we will not fail." Emphasizing the absolute necessity necess-ity of the Victory Loan, Executive Vice Chairrnan Clarence Bamberger Bamber-ger pointed out that the whole e-conomy e-conomy of the United States is tied up in the war debt and that debt must be retired. "If "E" bonds are not good, then nothing is good," he declared. For , with an 198 percent, or $240,000,-000 $240,000,-000 increase in "individuallly owned own-ed bank deposits in the State of Utah since 1941,- surely there is no reason why we cannot again do the job." Orran Ashby has headed the past seven war loan drives as chairman, and resigned three months ago.His place will be taken by Homer Petersen. |
