Show Seven Scouts Receive Awards At Court of Honor. Ex-Chief A. A. Anderson and Pres. Joseph T. Finlinson Made Presentations at Banquet Deseret was the host Friday night for the Scout Court of Honor, with J. A. Bennett, chairman of the affair. A banquet, served by the Deseret Ward Relief Society, was held in the new banquet room for the visiting dignitaries and local Scouters. Nels. L. Petersen was Master of Ceremonies at the banquet and introduced the visiting delegation of Scout executives, who were Ru-lon Ru-lon Doman, Scout Executive; John F. Mower, Council Chairman; Dr. Earl T. Pardoe, Council Chairman of Scout Advancement; H. Eugene Hughes, Council Field Commissioner Commission-er and Chief A. A. Anderson. The program .at- the banquet was opened by the congregation singing sing-ing "God Bless America". Pres. Harold R. Morris gave the opening prayer. Introductions over, the Eagle Scouts were presented and initiated initiat-ed into the Eagle class. Pres. Ben Robison presented the group after each scoutmaster had presented his entries to Commander Arthur Reeves, for final acceptance. High tributes were paid to Ex-Chief Ex-Chief Anderson and Pres. Joseph L. Finlinson. Anderson because of his fine work in making Scouting so strong in the Deseret Stake; and Finlinson because of his untiring un-tiring efforts to bring Scouting be-for be-for the boys while he was president presi-dent of the Stake. President Ben Robison presented each with a fitted fit-ted bag as a token of the high regard re-gard in which they were both held by the Deseret Stake Scouters. The Court of Honor was held after the banquet in the Deseret Chapel. Colors were presented by the Hinckley Sea Scouts, and Erma Cropper sang "The Flag Without a Stain," immediately after the presentation pre-sentation of the colors. Prayer was given by Pres. Joseph T. Finlinson. Evan Gardner was a speaker. The Eagle Scouts were formally awarded award-ed their badges with the mothers receiving a minature badge of the same nature. The awards were made by Rulon Doman. Norma Hannifin and company presented a violin duet, with piano accompaniment. accompani-ment. Chief A. A. Anderson spoke to the newly made Eagles counseling counsel-ing them on their future behavior. Ray Rinlinson and company presented pre-sented a group singing the Scout song, "Jamboree." Nels L. Petersen Peter-sen closed the Court of Honor with prayer, and the Hinckley Sea Scouts retired the colors, bringing to a close a very colorful Court of Honor. The Scouts to be made Eagles were Talmage Christensen, William Will-iam Conk, Stanley Dewsnup, Harold F, Western, Richard Finlinson, Finlin-son, Dean Anderson and Reece Finlinson. |
