Show Hinckley . . . Mrs. Harriet Spendlove Fernard Blake was operated on at the Payson hospital on Wednesday Wednes-day morning for a hernia rupture. He" was taken to Payson Monday by his mother, Clarissa Blake and Hvrum Blake. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ekins motored to Provo last week to attend the funeral of Mr. Ekins sister, Mrs. Ellen Holdway of Provo. Their daughter, Alta Reeve of Fillmore, accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. M. Wilford Lewis, Kamas, visited two days this week with Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Dutson. Cherol Reeve and Wayne Blake, who have been attending school at the U. S. A. C, are home for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Petersen went to Salt Lake last Saturday and left their daughter, Mae Jean, to have some work done on her teeth. They returned home Sunday. tmmt Mr. Roy Chaffin spent a few davs visiting his mother, Mrs. Mabel Ma-bel Chaffin last week. Miss Georgia Dutson is visiting here with Ila Talbot. Mr. and Mrs. George Ekins, Mrs. Richard Shurtliff. Mrs. Verdell Bishop and Mrs. Vernon Love attended at-tended conference in Salt Lake City last week. Phyllis Bennett was hostess to the Literary Club last Wednesday evening. The evening was spent in a discussion of current articles of interset. Articles were presented by Belva Morris. Manon Robison, Helen Shurtliff. Harriet Spendlove and Melba Neilson. Other guests were: Ruth Talbot. Bertha Love, Reva Talbot, Arvilla Swensen and Erma Crooner. Mr. and Mrs. Marion bishop and daughter, of Salt Lake City, are soending this week visiting with their sons. Maughan and Kay. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stewart and children. Lynn and Gary, from Los Vegas, Nevada are now visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Stewart. Thursday evening Mr. Rodney G. Richenback met with the Hinckley Hin-ckley Garden Club to answer questions ques-tions on the control of destructive insects, noxious weeds and helpful hints on gardening. Mrs. Julia Bliss reviewed the program to be carried car-ried on by the 4-H clubs and asked the parents cooperation on carrying carry-ing out the program of activities. Mrs. Beulah Black gave a lesson on the care of roses. The slogan, , "The Hinckley - Garden Club will SljA ae our desert blossom like a '-'jhiml ,e" was chosen as the best slo-; slo-; - gan by the judges and Mrs. Randle ' . t Swensen, the composer of the slo-, slo-, , -V gan, was awarded gladiola bulbs ' , ' as a prize. At the next meeting, a study will be made of choice perennial per-ennial plants and the preperation of the soil for their planting will be made. The public is invited to attend. at-tend. Mr. Grant Robinson has been chosen as second counselor to Orlando Or-lando Hepworth superintendent ol the Sunday School. Randle Swensen Swen-sen was appointed first counselor filling the position left vacant by Melvin Robins, and Grant Robinson Robin-son fills the vacancy left by Randle Rand-le Swensen. Clayton Stratton and Warrer Stratton have been visiting witl their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stratton. Mrs. Marion Warnick and familj are visiting at the home of Mr and Mrs. Parley Warnick. Marior was here Saturday and Sunday ant has returned to Colorado, when he is employed as a civil engineer Mrs. Don Mcintosh and her fam ily have moved from Salt Lake t( Hinckley, occupying their home oi the highway. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Stoddard am their son, Kenneth Stoddard, lef Friday to return to their home ii Bakersfield, California.
