Show Glyphs in Chalk Creek I Not of Indian Origin I Saturday Rube Davies of Fillmore took look me up Chalk Creek to some pet- pet on a rock there There is a face above and below that three long tong rows of glyphs mIxed mixed mixed mIx mIx- mix mix- ed In character three things that look like a sock with the needles crossed and at the extreme right end a well well- I defined gable of a house with eaves I showing quite plainly and acid a window in the gable end The cutting of the i faces does not look like Indian work to me and certainly not the house As to age I they might be from eighty eIght to about a hundred years old old old- but within the white man occupancy either Spanish or later In a cleft near it Is a hand imprint in red paint somewhat fresh looking and on the rock surface some genuine ancient Indian glyphs dim and hardly perceptible but can be bc identified by using a magnifying glass on the film On the main rock underlying the white man work and also in areas not occupied by the later cutting are arc re remains remains remains re- re mains much worn of genuine ancient Indian glyphs |
