Johnson, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. John-son, of Gandy, and Pvt. William H. Corry, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Heyborne Corry, of Delta, are com-pleting their AF basic airmen in-doctrination course at Lackland A. F. B., the "Gateway to the Air Force." Both young men were gradua-ted from Delta high school last year, and they enlisted in the Air Force at the same time. Their basic training 5s preparing them for entrance into Air Force technical training and for assign-ment in SDecialized work. Applies For ftlnlisiiiiefit The latest Millard county young men to apply lor enlistment in the Air Force is Reed C. Bunker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lamond Bunker, of Sutherland. Reed applied last Saturday through Sgt. Stinson, loc-al army and air force recruiter. He left for Fort Douglas April 14 to be processed before being given a date of departure for Parks Air Force Base, Cal., for 8 weeks basic training. Reed attended the BYU for five quarters and plans to use this edu-- ! cation to apply for air officers can-- 1 didate school after he arrives at Parks. Oasis Mrs La Veda Bishop Cpl. Ladd Kelly has been home on a y furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kelly. He left Wednesday for Salt Lake City where he took a plane for Langley AFB, Va. He is a senior mechanic now and likes his work fine. He expects to leave for over-seas duty shortly. He has been assigned to the European com-mand. His parents and sister, Inez Ann, drove to Salt Lake City with him to see him' on his way. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skeem left April 6 on a trip east. They went to Salt Lake City by train, and there took a plane to New York City, where they went sightseeing. From there they went to Wash-ington, D. C. .to see the cherry blossoms and sights of the Capitol. Then they went to Detroit for a new car, and drove to Niagara Falls and into Canada. Word home reports that they are having a wonderful time, Their plans were to be gone about three weeks. Their twin children, little Brent and Brenda, are visiting with their aunt, Mrs. Thurlo Wiley, at Lynn-dy- l, while their parents take the trip. Bishop and Mrs. Peter H. Peter-son went to Salt Lake City Friday where Mrs. Peterson had medical treatment. They returned Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Arlyn Styler and family, from Bountiful, spent Eas-ter with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Val Styler. E. L. Silberstein and daughter, Dorothy, from Sandy, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Layton Bishop and son, Joe were dinner guests Easter at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop. |
