Show LYNXDYL BY MARY TOHNSON I The PTA held their concluding meeting of this school term Monday Mon-day evening at the school house. The school children furnished the program . Original slides were show the children had made and each a gave a story about the picture. pic-ture. Then a radio program was carried out. Election of the officers offic-ers for the new year were held. Mrs. Thurlo Wiley will be the pres. with Phil Nielson, vice pres., and Mrs. Rayola Turner as secretary. Mrs. Margie Greathouse conducted the meeting. A large group attended atten-ded and punch and cookies were served. Last Tuesday evening the MIA presented a one-act play, "The Neighbors", under the direction of Lee Shipley. The cast included Hazel Sheriff, Mary Smith, Lucile Johnson, Mary Freer, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc Cardel, Billy Nielson and Dick Hayes. The play was enjoyed by a large crowd. Following the play a dance was held. Oak City junior orchestra furnished the music. Wednesday ev ening Lucille Johnson and Mary Smith entertained the play cast at the Johnson home. Cards were played and the cast and their partners par-tners enjoyed a very pleasant evening. ev-ening. Mrs. J. C. Trotter and son, John, of Biggs, California, spent several days here, with Mrs. Trotter's daughter, dau-ghter, Mrs. Howard Nieslon and family. John has just recently returned re-turned from active duty in Korea, having been in the service several years. He visited comrades in Salt Lake, before their return trip home Last Wednesday morning while making a fire Mr. Aim Banks had the misfortune of getting a small piece of coal in his eye, which necessitated two trips to Salt Lake City to the doctor. Sunday the Banks and Abegg-lens Abegg-lens were in Milford where they spent the day with Mrs. Maurine Miller and 'family. The newest member of the Miller family received re-ceived her name that day. They drove home, Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Banks received word Monday that their son, Fred expects ex-pects to move back to Utah. They have been making their home in New Holland, Pa., for the past several sev-eral years. Fred is going to enroll en-roll at the U. of U. where he will take out his master's degree. Mrs. Rhea Whatcott and Mrs. Evelyn Hogan were among the stake people who spent the day at Manti temple Friday. Mrs. Rhea Whatcott had her little lit-tle six months old grand daughter daugh-ter over the week end while her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Hewlett Hew-lett were in Salt Lake. They came back Sunday evening and took little Marie home. Mr. and Mrs. George Maxwell visited. Sunday with LaRuae's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Great- house. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Nielson drove to Yellowstone for a pre-season visit. Mrs. Josephine Sudbury is here with the Nielson children. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc Cardell and sons, Jim and Bob took a week end trip north. Mrs. Mary Freer drove down to Sutherland and visited Ms. Hettie .Johnson Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ruth Bowers attended a funeral in Nephi Monday. Miss Edith Anderson of Oak City gave a piano recital Sunday evening which was enjoyed by a well filled house. Lee Shipley was in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Inez Wiley spent the day Monday in Provo, going up with her mother, Mrs. Betsy Skeem and sister, Lorraine. |
