Show Millard Eagles Take Top Place Millard high school won its 8th straight Region Six track' and field championship at Delta Saturday. Coach Taft Watts' Eagles rolled up 110 points, almost twice as many as the second place team, Delta high, with 56 points. The Millard sprint and relay talent tal-ent provided the wide margin for the win. Eldon Marshall won the 100 and the 220 for the day's only double win. The Eagle 800 relay unit rolled to within four second of the state record. Delta's Bud Fullmer was topman in the javelin event, with a mark of 164.9 feet, one o'f the best of the meet. Kanab's Louis Chatterly soared over the 11 foot 10 inch mark in the pole vault. Millard was first in the 100, 220, 440, 800, 120 low hurdles, discus, mile relay and 880 relay, and with this strong showing is a strong fav orite for honors at the state class B meet. Delta got two top spots, with Fullmer in the javelin, and the medley relay, 4:00.1,. with Ray -mond Petterson, Clarence Prestwich, Prest-wich, Johnnie Whatcott and Ronald Ron-ald Anderson. In the mile relay Delta placed second. Other Delta men who placed plac-ed were Robert Harris, 5th in the 880; Hal Rawlinson , 4th, mile; Whatcott low hurdles, 3rd; Fullmer 4th, Kent Bishop , 5th , high hurdles; hur-dles; David Seegmiller, 4th, javelin; jave-lin; Harold Snow, 3rd, Overson, 4th shot put; Prestwtich, 2nd, Whatcott, What-cott, 3rd, Snow 5th, discus; Johnson John-son 3rd, pole vault; Snow 3rd high jump; Delta 4th, 880 relay. In the 880 Anderson of Millard and Anderson of Delta ran a good race, ending Millard first, Delta second. Then 20 minutes later Anderson was back to help Delta win the medley relay. Coach Christensen takes six men Raymond Peterson, Clarence Prestwich, Prest-wich, Johnnie Whatcott, Ronald An derson, Harold Snow and Bud Fullmer, Full-mer, to the state meet Saturday, |
