Show Commence Work At Clem Lake Director J. Perry Egan, Utah Fish and Game Commission, announces the beginning last week of the Clear Lake project near Fillmore, Utah. The work being undertaken t.iere is of a permanent nature. It is one of the larger projects the department will undertake during this year. K. L. Turpin, Federal Aid Coordinator Coord-inator Vor this office, has worked diligently to set up this project and expedite its beginning. Arvon Johnson, Superintendent of Build- I ing and Maintenance is overseeing I the work with Department employees employ-ees and equipment. The total project is to be handled hand-led over a three-year period and will total near $100,000.00. Their funds are derived from the State's participation in the Pittman-Rob-ertson Act. This first year's work will expend slightly less than half o this amount. There will be 4 miles of new dikes built. This will control the level of water on 1200 new acres that will be covered. There will be 3 miles of new road built for the purpose of furthering the work and hunter accessibility to the project pro-ject The importance of the Clear Lake project as a migratory waterfowl water-fowl nesting and hunting ground is being more generally recognized recogniz-ed each year. The Department feels that this additional work will further fur-ther enhance the project to the sportsmans' advantage in line with the importance it places on this , work, which is o'f a permanent nature. |
