Bette Jean, who is receiving medical and therapeutic care in one of the coun-try's first hospital-scho- units to be financed by Easter Seal funds, is a victim of cerebral palsy, but now able to walk. She is a symbol of the hope extended to the nation's crip-pled through the services financed by Easter Seals. He had worked six Ss in th mission field with his brother, Glen Gardner, who They were both in Honolulu to meet Richard May 4 when he docked there. Toniiilc Riles Unite Couple In Salt Lake A prettily arranged reception honoring Garda Moulton and Vel-do- n R. Hodgeson was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. Henry Moulton, 1138 E. 4th South, in Salt Lake. The pair were married at 5 p. m., March 18, in the Salt Lake temple, Spencer W. Kimball officiating at both the temple rite and the dou-ble ring ceremony immediately fol-lowing. Sixteen friends and relat-ives of the couple witnessed the ceremony,. The bride wore traditional white satin with chantilly lace and car-ried a brides bouquet of white carnations and pink rosebuds. Miss Kari Sonstoby was maid of honor, with Phyllis M. Sampson and Jane M. Stone, sister of the bride, at-tending matrons. Miss Sonstoby wore blue crepe, Mrs. Sampson, light rose, and Mrs. Stone light green, and each carried bridesmaid bouquets tied with rose, green and blue shaded satin ribbon. Charles E. Parkin missionary com-panion friend of the bride-groo-stood as best man. Also in the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Moulton, par-ents of the bride, and Henry C. Hodgesson of Ogden, father of the groom, and an aunt of the groom, Mrs. Orme of Provo. The home was decorated with pink and white snapdragons and a beautifully decorated wedding cake. Gordon Christensen, formerly of Delta, sang favorite songs of the bride and groom. My Wonderful One, and My Heart is Thine Alone, Mrs. John O. Mason of 1150 Harri- - son Ave., aunt of the bride ac-companied him on the piano. The couple honeymooned for a week in Idaho Falls, where they spent part of their time in the Idaho Falls temple. They are now at home at 622 Elizabeth St. Salt Lake City. r Morrison, from Huntington Beach Cal., arrived in Delta Sat-urday' for a stay of several weeks. Annual Ilirthday Outing Held A birthday outing honoring Mr. Peter Johnson Mrs. Raymond Over-so-and Master Grant Wilson was held Sunday March 27, at Whittier, Cal. A very delicious lunch was served to the following guests, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Benson, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Gor-don McEuen, Mr. and Mrs. Ray-mond Overson, Mrs. Lillian Wilson, Mrs. Frank Flaherty, Mrs. George Waite and families, Joan Davidson, Clorean Johnson, Bud Ellsworth, Norman Johnson and chums. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnson were un-able to attend due o the illness of Mrs. Johnson. Special out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Max Johnson making a total of forty present. UI Scholarship Goes To S1 Miss Edna Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Smith, Fillmore, has been awarded the Carl Raymond Gray $100 scholarship. This schol-arship is given annually by the UP railroad, to the 4H boy or girl who has done the most outstanding work in their 4H projects. Edna has completed 5 years of club work. She has won medals for her achievement in clothing, and better methods electric and in 1948 was chosen to participate in the 4H style revue at the Utah State Fair. Her clothing work has also been shown at the Pacific Inter-national Exhibition at Portland, Oregon. This year, 1949, she will continue her 4H clothing projects and will also have a 4H poultry project. Enda will use the scholarship to attend the Agricultural college, when she has completed her high school education. Marilyn Badger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Badger, Holden, has also won recognition in her 4H projects in beef, and clothing, and has been named at the alter-nate for the scholarship. JOLLY STITCHERS TO MEET FRIDAY, APRIL 8 IN DELTA The Jolly Stitchers will meet on Friday, April 8, at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bessie Judd in Delta. Mrs. Eva Holt will assist her as hostess. Among those attending the 119th LDS conference sessions in Salt Lake City this week were Van Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Steph-enson, Bishop and Mrs. June W. Black, Mrs. Wanda Beckwith, Mrs. Lafe Morley and Mrs. Lucille Stap-le- Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evans and young son, from Roy, Utah, visited in Delta from Saturday to Monday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Evans. Mrs. B. F. Sampson is spending this week in Salt Lake, visiting her daughters, and doing some work in the church library. Mr. and Mrs. J. W.Pace spent Saturday and Sunday in Delta, visiting their mother, Mrs. W. H. Pace, recently returned from Cal. They returned to Salt Lake, where Mr. Pace is serving as one of1 the three on the state liquor commis-so- n. - it Russell Knight and Dick Morri-son flew to Salt Lake Monday, to arrange the purchase of a new M-- tractor by Russ. They made the return trip in an hour and ten min-utes. This was in the airplane, not the tractor. M-- tractors have a fast 5th gear, but it is not quite that fast. ' Will Bennett, and son, O. J. Bennett, drove to Burley, Idaho, last week, to visit Mr. Bennett's sister, Mrs. Fannie Hunt. She is in the hospital there. Mrs. Will Bennett accompanied them as far as Garfield, and is remaining there to visit her daughter, Mrs. Thelma Bliss, and son Henry Bennett. Mr. Bennett and Jack returned to Delta Friday. Wallace Whicker and Carl Ashby visited west Millard county Sun-day, in Gandy and Garrison, and went on to Baker, Nevada, for a trip through Lahman cave. |
