Mr. Bennett has been working there for several months. Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Warnick re-turned to Delta last Thursday after several weeks in Salt Lake. Mr. Warnick was in the hospital there for a major operation Dec. 22, and is now recovering. Jolly Stitchers To Meet Friday The Jolly Stitchers will meet Fri-day, Jan. 14, as the home Mrs. Josie Walker. Assisting as hostess-es are Mrs. Annie Walker and Mrs. Dee Sanford. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Taggart anl Mrs. W. H. Pace left Delta Sunday driving to California. The Taggart ; will return in a week, and Mrs. Pace will remain several week lon. er at her home in Long Beach. J. Layton Bishop drove to Salt Lake Monday, accompanied, by Clark Bishop, Mrs. John Avery Bish-op and Cecil Losee. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Chesley drove to Salt Lake, where they will spend the week. Mrs. Russell Dutson of Salt Lake arrived Thursday to spend a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray 'Mills. They all left Friday morning to spend a few days in Milford. Mrs. Jean Jeffers has returned from a visit in California, and is now packing to make her home there, as her son, Bill, is employed at SanBernardino. Miss Margaret Smith has. been quite lill for the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simpson and small daughter, Paula, went to Ne-p- hi Tuesday to see Dr. Beckstead. On Wednesday they spent the day in Delta and Oak City visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leland Roper. Fael Huddleston is home over the weekend. Thursday Mrs. Rachel Simpson and Janeane came home from Salt Lake after visiting with Mrs. Louise Clark. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ben-se- n, Mrs. Sara Ann Wiley, and Mrs. Effie Allen drove to Provo to at-tend the funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Sherwood, who passed away in Mrs. Hilma Clark, who has been visiting her son, Roy, was called to Salt Lake City Wednesday as her granddaughter, Betty Madsen, gave birth to a new baby and Mrs. Clark went to take care of her. A very enjoyable evening was spent last Friday at the Nielson home, the occasion being Crystal's birthday. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by a group of young people. Nada and Bill Simpson were guests at the Norma Majers home Sunday and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Connie Johnson, Roberta Nielson and Molly Mills went to Beaver to attend the Delta - Beaver game and to Milford to the game there. Mrs. Alpha Nielson went to Los Angeles to undego an operation. She will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson there. Mrs. Eleanor Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Nielson went to Spanish Fork Saturday. Miss Gladys Banks came home over the weekend and returned on Sunday to the BAC. Freddie Miller, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Banks, is here while his mother is in Salt Lake. Mrs. Jerry Nielson and Mrs. Clar-ice Larsen and Susie Nielson were in Salt Lake last week visiting Mrs. Josephine Sudbury. Mr. and Mrs. Kirt Roper wish to announce the marriage of their daughter, Dawn, to Barney Wetzell of Los Angeles. They were married in Caliente, Nevada, December 31, 1948. They are now honeymooning in Los Angeles and visiting with Mr. Wetzzell's family. Mr. land Mrs. Carl Larsen spent last week in Las Vegas. Treasury Department Six Enlist For Army Service Six young Deltans have enlisted for 2 years in the U. S. Army since 'Jan. 1, as reported Sgt. Tex Mose- - ley of the U. S. Recruiting Service. They are Jay Homer Shurtz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frelene Shurtz; Robert Clark son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Clark; Eugene Stephenson, son of Lucille Stephenson; Bruce Abbott, son Mr. and Mrs. George Abbott; Blaine George, son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen George, and Bern-ard Byrd, recently Emmett, Idaho, and a brother of Brady Byrd of Delta. ( The recruits left Delta during the past week, and are stationed at Ft. ORD, near Monterey, California. He told me some time ago you had written one but he doubted they would print it. I am glad he is finally getting recognition. Thornton, while Mr. LeCheminant is in Salt Lake City. His son is there In the mission home and departs soon for the LDS mission field. George Abbott is now acting as deputy assessor, in place of his brother, Lawrence Abbott. That is all the news I have this week, folks, as I have stayed close to the stove. And so have most of the neighbors. The snow is over our fences now, and you couldn't be-gin to shovel into the Jolly Stitch-ers hall. So club is at the Winn Walker home Friday, in spite of so much snow. Hope to have more neighbor news next week. |
