Forty-on- e Relief Society mem-bers were entertained at a lawn party at the home of Mrs. Bert Sanford Tuesday evening, honor-ing the retiring Relief Society of-ficers and leaders. There was a program, games and refreshments were served. Mary Johnson, Lena Steele, and Vera Barney super-vised the games. The program was directed by Virginia Lyman, Irene Brumley and Tenna Johnson. Mau-- 1 rine Anderson and Ann Hales ser- - ived the lunch. The retiring officers are eBtty Johnson, Dale Bishop, Rayda Raw-linso- n and Hester Ahlstrom. Mary Henrie, and Deonna Erickson re-tiring leaders were each presented with a gift by Lizette Erickson, president. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jensen and daughter Elsie, and Mrs. Don spent Thursday and Friday in Salt Lake City and Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Masel Brasher and family from Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Moulton and sons, Tom and Lyman, from Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Crosby from Spanish Fork visited here Thursday after attending the funeral services of Athur Bunker. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rollins and Beverly Johansen from Logan were visitors this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Avon Barney. Mrs, Josephine Bunker, who has been in Salt Lake City and Ogden has returned to Sutherland with her daughter, Mrs. Josie Walker. Carl Boss from Garland and Sherwin Bear from Providence spent the weekend visiting Dale Johnson. The three were in the navy together and the visitors, who leave soon on missions, came to see Dale before their departure. Lee Johnson returned home Sun-day. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Benson and family of Los Angeles are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Thornton of California, visited their father, E,. T. Thornton this week. Mrs. Thorn-ton is still in Salt Lake City for medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sanford drove to Provo Saturday taking Janet Sanford and LaVon Barney to the BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Walker spent Monday and Tuesday in Salt Lake City. Sutherland ward MIA held a mothers and daughters party Fri-day atfernoon on the Porter's lawn. There was a program and refreshments were served. Donna Belle Christensen, who is attending the LDS business college spent the weekend here with her mother, Mrs. Madge Christensen. Sutherland young people now en rolled at the BAC are Louise Skid-mor- e, Zoe Porter, Carmen Rose, Kenneth May, Dick Moody and Murray Edwards. Mr. and Mrs. Max Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Owens drove to Ne-p- Monday to attend the wedding of their brother, Russell Jackson and Miss Grace Maley. Their par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Jack-son, from Salt Lake City and all others in the family but one dau-ghter in Montana, were at the wed ding. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner honored the bride and bridegroom with members of both families present. R. S. To Meet Tuesday, Sept. 14 En Etelia First The Relief Society of the Delta First ward will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Meeting time was set for 11 a.m. when quilts and handwork will be worked on by members attend-ing. At 2 p. m, elasswork will open in knitting, c.cheting and sewing conducted by Mrs. Rea S. Huff. This class will be of special inter-est to young mothers and any wishing to learn new stitches and combinations, under the expert guidance of Mrs. Huff. All visiting teachers are asked to attend at 2:30 p. m. for the special session of work. Wed In Nevada La Drue P. Phillips and Orlin Roberts were married Saturday, September 4, in Las Vegas, Neva-da. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson of Oasis, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roberts, of Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts will visit Hoover dam and return to Delta to make their home. Country CIieIj Met Monday i Mrs. Rayda Knight was hostess to the Country Club at their meet-ing Monday night. Dinner was served at 8 to Nell Callister, Mer-len- e Callister and Elaine Knight, guests, and June Reid, Lois Hin-ckley, Lois Maxfield, Dora Mun-'ste- r, Eleanor Roberts, Vi Morten-sen- , Ann Hales, Dorothy Steele and Verna Shepherd, club members. After dinner bridge was played and high score awards went to Mrs. Reid and Mrs. Steele, and con-solation to Mrs. Hinckley. Miss Dorthella Bishop entertain- ed for the 18th birthday of her brother, Clare, at a party last Saturday night. Seventeen guests were present. Mrs. Loretta Whicker and son have returned from Kamas, Utah, where she was visiting her moth-er, Mrs. McNeil, who has been ill ; EBESEEMST Lucile Sampson Mrs. Bob Phillips underwent an operation at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake and is recovering as well as can be expected. Mr. and Mrs. Leone Bennett and family from Fresno, California, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hicks and family from Ogden spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Black. Miss Margie Jensen spent a few days in Salt Lake City. Jack Webb made a trip to Salt Lake to get his wife, Therza, who has been spending two weeks in Salt Lake. Mrs. Mary Black and Carlos Black went to Salt Lake with Mr. Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Western from Salt Lake City were weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and ' Mrs. Frank Black. Van Warnick from Elko, Nevada, spent two days with his wife, Mrs. Carole Warnick. They also made a trip to Provo Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Moody from Salt Lake came down to get their children, who have been visiting in Deseret with their grandmother, Mrs. Effie Moody. Miss Doris Gwillian from Boise, Idaho, spent Labor Day weekend with Miss Melba Western. Gordon Edwards was a Delta visitor a week ago, and moved his wife and son to Salt Lake City to make their home. He is with the CAA there, and Mrs. Edwards has been here all summer. Her mother, Mrs. W. E. Black, and Max visited them in their new home last weekend and were joined there later by Mr. Black and Keith and Shirl. Mr. and Mrs. Oz Wilcox, who have been in St. George and south-ern Utah this summer, are visiting this week with their sister, Mrs. Nell Watson, and brother, Clark McCullough and families. They will return later to their home in Idaho Mr. and Mrs. Niels Clarke had as visitors over the weekend four young people, two young men and two girls, from Denmark. They had Known them while serving in the Danish mission field for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints The young people had come to Utah as converts of the churchc One youth and one girl are now working in Salt Lake City, and the other two are going to school. One of them has been in Utah a year, the other boy but 3 months. One spoke at Sunday school in the Delta third ward, Mr. Clarke trans-lated the talk. j Sunday night 42 Bishops met on the Heber Bishop lawn in Hinck-ley, being his brothers and their families. Out of town guests were Jay Bishop and family from Calif-ornia; Max Bishop and family from Salt Lake; Clayton Bishop from Orem and Mrs. Lemira Bishop Brown from Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
