Tho farmers nro Jujt finishing up the harvesting of their first crop of hay, and some aro through nnd proparing their alfalfa land for a good irrigation by first killing tho weevils by brush dragging drag-ging and harrowing their land. The hoe is tho most popular Instrument of the day, and men, women and children aro using It constantly. Useful Use-ful servtco Is the spirit of the times, and every noble nature finds comfort thorcln. Tho Hoy Scouts aro preparing for a hlko to Dear Lako next Saturday. They will bo gone a week. Mr. Alma Olsen has bought the Albert Anderson borne, and Mr. Anderson An-derson has moved to his home Id Holbrook. Mrs. H. A. Adamson, with son, Herbert, and daughter, Donnlo, and also Mrs. Addle Van Noy have returned re-turned from a wook's visit at Vernal. Thoy have been visiting there with Mr. Walt Lewis and family, a brother of Mrs. Adamson and Mrs. Van Noy. Hlalno Murdock, the ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Murdock, who now resldo at Coalville, was shot In tho heel by his oldest brother with tho result that tho wound caused blood poison. Ho died a few days after tho accldont. On July 4th a baby boy arrived at the Murdock Mur-dock homo, and Mrs. Murdock Is In a most delicate condition. Mrs. LItus, a sister of Mrs. Hanna Cbrlstcnscn, who had attended the funeral of IJlalno Murdock, visited hero a few days with her sister. Miss Etta Doty, who is now making mak-ing her homo In Salt Lake, was In her homo town on a short visit. "Man's Partnership to Naturo" was tho subject discussed by Mrs. Fannlo Stoddard and Miss May McCarrey at Parents class yast Sunday. It was handled In a most Interesting manner by both parties. Miss Anna Flamm, a returned missionary mis-sionary of Roxburg, visited with Mrs. Knapp last week. Mr. Morton and son havo gone to California to work in tho new condenser con-denser there. Mrs. Moss and her two daughters of Salt Lako have been visitors at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mer rill. Also their son, Kolth, and wife from tho city payed thorn a short visit. Mlsa Illzlna Skldmoro, who has been a high school teacher at Cedar City,-Is spending her vacation In her homo town. The following homes havo been visited vis-ited by the stork: Mr. and Mrs. Hll-mer Hll-mer Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Nash, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson, Mn and Mrs.. Wm. Spackman, and Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson, who now reside re-side at Smlthfleld. Mr. Otto Adamson, who has been employed ns bookkeeper in Chicago, Is home on a short visit. Otto has offered his holp to Undo Sam by enlisting en-listing in the Yeomen service Mr. Kirkbrlde, of the U. A. C. In the Interest of the "Boys' club" gardening, gar-dening, came up to Inspect gardens and was pleased to find a great many very flno samples. Vegetable canning will bo demonstrated, demon-strated, July 17, at Relief Society meeting by two ladles sent here by tho U. A. C. extension division. Bring your vegetables prepared and also bottles and como and learn to do it right. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bright, upon their return to Smlthfleld after making mak-ing a short visit to their home town hero, found their house burned down. It Is not known how the flro started. Very little was saved. The two-week-old Infant of Mr. and Mrs. Alvln Anderson died last Sunday. Sun-day. The little one had been very weak slnco birth.. Funeral services wore held at tho homo Monday. Tho speakers were Andrew Anderso'n, Lars Johnson, Wm. Anderson and Georgo Webb. Under tho direction of Bert Dan-ford, Dan-ford, a big celebration will be held here on July 24.
