Frank Little, Lit-tle, member of tho executive board of tho Industrial Workers of tho World and prominent In labor troubles trou-bles In Arizona, was taken from n lodging houso early today by masked men and hanged to a railroad tro3tU( on tho outskirts of tho city. Tho body was cut down at 8 n. m. by tho chief of police, Jerry Murray, who Identified It. Little, In n recent speech here, referred re-ferred to United States troops as "Uncle "Un-cle Sam's scabs in uniforms.' Since his arrival In Butte recently from Globe, Ariz., Little had mado a number of speeches to strikers, In all of which he had attacked tho government gov-ernment and urged the men to shut down'the mines or the Butto district. He was bitter In his denunciation of tho government. His record was under Investigation by the- federal authorities, whose attention bnd been called to his activities. On the other hand, tho report was current that Little was In tho employ of a prominent promi-nent detcctlvo agency nnd ono theorr was set up that he was tho victim of the radical element of whom ho nppeared to be a member. On Little's body waB a card bearing bear-ing these words: "First nnd Inst warning. Others tako notice. Vlgll-nntes." |
