Show NEW MYSTERY IN SLAYING OF WOMAN La Crosse, Wis., Aug. 9. A new element of mystery was Injected Into In-to tho Cora Miller murder caso today when two girls living on the North Salem road told Chief of Tollco Webber Web-ber that they heard a series of terrifying ter-rifying screams in a woman's voice coming from nn automobllo near the Hnugo homo tho night Mrs. Miller disappeared. This development strengthened tho theory- that not only Elmer Hauge, I under whoso houso Mrs. Miller's body was found, but another man, was implicated In tho murder. Hauge, for whom a countrywide search is being made, has no car. Webber discovered that one of tho wooden pillar supports in tho basement base-ment of tho house had been hacked with a hatchet. Chips from the pillar, pil-lar, covered with blood, were found burled near the grave which hid tho body. Webber believes tho woman was attacked in an upper room, dragged' downstairs to the cellar, and the Job finished there with a hatchet. |
