H Senator J. W. Funk delivered the or- PJ ntlon, which was a historical, patrl- H) otic talk and showed much thought. H Mayor Richardson mado everyone PJ , feel wclcomo by his Bpeech. Mau- PJ rlco Miles paid a glowing tribute to H '' "Our Flag." The Liberty swarm of H Uec-Hlvo girls sang thu chorus, "My H America," The parade was good. HHH Miss Rao Miles, ia goddess, was In- H deed a beautiful picture, so tall and H graceful. Four llttlo girls acted as PJ her maids. H Tho gun club took first prize, $10, H for tho best decorated automobile H They represented a forest with tho H elk, birds and animals lying at rest H In tho shrubbery. Jonathan Smith H took second price, and H. T, Thorn- H ley third prize In tho decorated au- H tomoblles. Bishop Winn's car, H draped In white and decorated with H red crosses, was filled with a beovy H of lied Cross nurses, also was of H worthy mention, H Tho Hoy Scouts, tho Iloe-Hlvo girls PJ and tho soldier boys and girls, all PJ mounted, wero Interesting features B of the parade. Tho children wero H entertained at a freo plcturo show at H tho Union hall, and a danco at IIII1- H yard's hall. In tho evening, about H two hundred and fifty 'tickets wero H sold for tho danco at tho Union hall. H The plcturo shows wero also crowded. A. conpolnt was that of laBt Sunday evening, when lovers of high class literature rroro entertained by Mrs. Harold Cedarlund of Logan, who read tho "Whlto Ship," accompanied accom-panied on the piano by Mr. William Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. George Bell and Harold Har-old Cedarlund accompanied Mrs. Cedarlund to our city last Sunday evelnlng and were present at the mooting. The Smlthfleld cornet band was engaged en-gaged at Newton for the Fourth of July celebration, and speaks very highly of the honor and appreciation shown by tho people of that place We certainly missed their music hero In the afternoon, as all sports and games seem dead without a band to enliven things and furnish enjoyment enjoy-ment for tho older people. Mrs. Thomas Richardson and daughter, Wllla, of Los Angeles, Cal arrived here on Tuesday to visit her mother, Mrs. F. S. Merrill, and other relatives. Bishop George L. Farrell Is around again after a two weeks' Illness. Mr. E. C. Shepard, Miss Wilkinson, and Mr. and Mrs. George Barber attended at-tended a (meeting here on Sunday last for the purpose of organizing a branch of tho Logan chapter of the American Bed Cross society. Tho following officers were sustained: chairman, Mrs. J. E. Sheffer; secretary, secre-tary, Miss Edna Petersen; treasurer, Mr. Gercge E. Miles. A meeting will be called. In tho near future by the chairman for the purpose of organizing organ-izing the following committees, membership, mem-bership, supplies, fund, and publicity. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Felsted and sons, Lyman and Spencer, motored from Garland and visited friends here the latter part of the week. Miss, Elelse Hill of Ogden spent a few days here this week. The stork has left bundles at the following homes during tho pa3t week: A boy at the home of Elmer Perry; a boy at the home of Joun Douglass; a girl at the home of John Hadfleld, and a boy to Mrs, John Nelson. Mr. Joseph Lewis left for Omaha with four cars of cattlo, shipped by Griffith Bros, and Cantwell. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Walker of Boston are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Larson. Mr. John Green arrived home from the California mission field on Thursday evening. Mrs. William P. Pllkington was pleasantly surprised on her birthday, last Thursday. Mrs. Sylvia Handley of-MetropolIs, Nov., will spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse T. Moses. Mrs. Joseph Watts Is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Vyron Watts at Lava Hot Springs. : Mr. and Mrs. Mariner Ro3kelley spent the Fourth at Huntsvllle. Postmaster Blair of Logan and the P. O.
