Show CELEBRATION cF0R ENLISTERS AT WELLSVILLE Wellsvllle, April 18. Mrs. Wm. Stocks and little son, Dal, of Lowls-ton Lowls-ton spent Sunday and Monday with her mother, Mrs. Esther Williamson. Mr. and Mrs. John Hendry were mado happy by the arrival of a fins baby girl, April 14th. Dr. Ileeso was In attendance. Miss Vera Maughan entertained twelve of her friends, Sunday evening. even-ing. A nice time was enjoyed. Music and singing were features of the evening. ev-ening. At the homo of Mrs. Vereno Park a reception was held In honor'of our soldier boys, April 13th, by a number num-ber of young ladles. Beautiful decorations dec-orations wero of red, whlto and blue and email flags and red and white carnations. Lunch was served during dur-ing the evening. Miss Llbble Bailey entertained in honor of Mr. William Bafikhead and the volunteers who enlisted April 12. The national colors prevailed for the decorations of the rooms, table and menu. A lovely time was enjoyed by twenty-four of the young people, and Miss Bailey makes a most charming hostess. The members of the Clement club and their husbands were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brenchley, the occasion being the twelfth wedding wed-ding anniversary of the host nnd hostess. American Beauty roses were gracefully arranged on the table. A l 'HellcIouB lunch was served at 11 -wclock. A beautiful dinner set of china was presented to' Mr. and Mrs. Brenchley by the members of the club. Mrs. Thomas Walters of Twin Falls, Idaho, was the invited guest. Games nnd music were Indulged In until the wee small hours, when all departed wishing that Mr. and Mrs. Brenchley may have many moro such celebrations. Charles Wyatt suffered a severo shock Sunday morning when tho 10 o'clock trnln on the Oregon Short Lino killed one of his horses and Injured In-jured tho other. Mr. Wyatt was hauling milk In tho snow storm and did not sen the train coming. Ho was not Injured, but received a serious seri-ous shock. Let U3 compliment Mr. Garrett and Mr. Allen on their up-to-date butcher shop and grocery storo. They expect to do an up-to-date business. Mr. Arthur Wilson has moved Into pJty now oarber shop which is up-to- W Jfate In every respect, Mr. Wilson oxpects to serve his customers better In his new location. The Wellsvllle Commercial club called a meeting of tho mombers to reorganize. The following officers were elected: Charlo3 N. Maughan, president; George Porklns, first vlco president; Wm. A. Old Glory reigned supreme Saturday, Satur-day, April 14 th, when the Wellsvlllo people turned out to do honor to tho following boyfe, who enlisted for Uncle Sam: Marshall Allen, Vernon Murray, Henry Garrett, Wm. H. Bankhead, Charles Cooper, Newel Brenchley, Garland Woodward, Jarao3 Walling, Fred Itlggs, Jos. S. Maughan, Brla Haslatn, Farrell Parker, Par-ker, Evan Murray, Farrell Lotshman. At 4 p. m. a grand parado headed bv Jas. Allen as flag bearer, next in line was the Wellsville city band, next the volunteers accompanied by Corporal Cor-poral Gaines, followed by the Commercial Com-mercial club and school children. At G p. m. a. dollclous lunch was served the young men and their Immediate friends, and at 0 p. pi. a grand ball, with the following program, was given: giv-en: A quartet by tho Wellsville Glee club, consisting of patriotic Bongs; E. U. Owon, president of tho Logan C B. C, gave an Interesting talk on proparedncss. Charles N. Maughan and Corporal Gnlnes also gave a short talk, and Mayor Lelshman encouraged encour-aged the boys In their noble work. Tho young men went to Ogden Sunday Sun-day and thence on to Salt Lake. A royal send-off was given them Sunday Sun-day morning when Mnyor Lolshman presented each boy with a twenty-dollar twenty-dollar check with the compliments of tho Wellsvlllo cltlzons, also a present of five dollars to tho first recruit and ono dollar to every ono onllsted In Wellsville.
