Show S. O. S. Call Told of Ship Being Shelled Bv German U-Boat An Atlantic Port, Sept. 15. Ai British steamship that arrived hero today reported that early yesterday ' morning a wireless S. O. S. call was heard stating that the ship from which tho message camo was being sholled by a Gernian submarine, tho location being 65 miles east of Nantucket Nan-tucket lightship. Tho name of tho boat attacked did not como clear, only tho word "Abby," presumably tho last half of the name being caught. Thero are a number of vessels both sail nnd steam of which the word "Abby" Is part of their names now engaged In Atlantic trade. Additional-Information that a submarine sub-marine was In the western Atlantic was brought by another British liner, which arrived here today from an English port. Offlcors of the liner said they had been Instructed to watch out for U-boats when nearlng the American coast. The place where the ship reported she was befog attacked, 65 miles east of Nantucket, 'is In the vicinity In which the de'rimm' submarine tf-tf3 sunk five steamships on Its visit to American waters In October, 1916, |
