Show AT THE LYRIC Many wore tho adventures which befell Sessue Hayakawa and his company com-pany who Is seen at the Lyric again today in tho Lasky-Paramount production pro-duction of Hobort Louis Stovenson's famous story, "The Hottlo Imp," when they wero In Hawaii. Mr. Hayakawa, his director. Marshall Nctlan, and the camera man, with a corps of assistants and several American Ameri-can members of the company, Journ-oyod Journ-oyod over tho Islands oxpectlng to engage a Hawaiian cast thero. Tho leading woman, Lehua Walpahu, is a member of a very high Hawaiian family and whtlo sho Is a talented' amateur actress, It was with great difficulty that thoy secured her parents' par-ents' consent for her appearance in moving pictures. Nearly a week was consumed before this consent could bo obtained, but Mr. Hayakawa and Mr. Neilan so won over her parents that thoy permitted many of the scenes to bo photographed on their estate. Tho company Journeyed to KUauea, tho famous volcano and a number of scenes were taken in its depths. Mr. Hayakawa and Mr. Neilan Nei-lan wero nearly overcome with sulphur sul-phur fumes, so great wa3 their ex-cttemont ex-cttemont in getting some of the views. |
