Show Impressive Services Held For Mrs. Gessel Funeral Was In First Ward Meeting House. At Providence Last 1 , 8unday Providence March 3. Tho funeral service of Mrs. Gottlieb Q ess el Sr., was held In the Providence First ward meeting house on Sunday, March 1 at 2 p. m. Tho hall was filled to Us capacity by relatives and frlonds. Tho First ward choir rendered very beautiful beau-tiful and appropriate music for tho occasion. Tho opening prayer was offered by Councollor WHIam H. Zollinger. Zol-linger. ., Tho mooting was prosldca over by Bishop Qodfrlcd Fuhrlman and tho speakers wero Ex-Bishop Frederick Thourer, John Thouror, Alma M. Mathews Sr., Councollor Androw M. I Hammond, Bishop Joseph H. Camp-I Camp-I bell of tho Second ward, rrcsidont L Serge F. Balllf and Bishop Godfrled JiJb Fuhrlman. Thoy all spoko very high-j1 high-j1 ly of tho character and high esteem which Sister Qessol was hold by all who know hor. Tho speakers called special nttentlon to tho great lovo and devotion toward hor husbotad and children, and the great Influence. She had over them, also, made mention that Sister Qessol was agreat lover of peace and truth and exercised groat faith through hor life In tho gospel and Its ordinances. Sho accepted tho gospel In Ludwlg-shafen, Ludwlg-shafen, Germany and with her husband hus-band was baptized by Bishop Frederick Freder-ick Thourer on tho 22d day of April 1876 and tho family emigrated to Utah in 1880 find settled In Proyl-donco Proyl-donco whero tho ylmvo resided over since Tho six sons of tho deceased acted as pall bearers. Tho flowers woro numerous and beautiful and tho following musical selections wero rendered by tho choir: Best; O, My Fathor; and Shall Wo Meet Beyond tho Rlvor. A solo entitled en-titled Sometime Wo'll Undorstand, by Mrs. Lulla Jensen; a quartet: do To Thy nest In Peaco, by J03. A. Smith Sr., Thomas Stlrland, Arthur Pickett and Ezra Carapboll. Tho benediction was pronounced by Bishop Lchl Olson of River Heights. A large cortege followed tho ro-mnlns ro-mnlns to their (last resting plado in tho Providence cemetery nnd the grave was dedicated by Elder Georgo W. Llndqulst . |
