Show m m n THE RECRUIT Americans are always groaning over 'the absence of strong men from the ranks of their professional politicians, and never nev-er doing anything to help better things. So the announcement of Theodore Roosevelt Jr. is. a refreshing and gratifying surprise. sur-prise. This recruit does not go through the pretense of waiting for a "call" from the people. 'T am going into politics," he declares de-clares frankly. That is absolutely a sound idea. America ought long ago to have developed de-veloped politics as a career into which the ablest and most upright men of the country could enter with candor and enthusiasm. en-thusiasm. We are proud and glad of Lieut. Col. Roosevelt's step. The Republican party and the whole country needs young blood in their leadership need all they can get Through Mr. Will H. Hays, the Republicans Republi-cans have discoyered what a new hand, with youth and skill and integrity, can bring to an organization. This particular lieutenant colonel will have a hard time filling the colonel's sombrero. But he has a good American record, befitting his name, and he starts vight. Good luck to him.
