Show A LIVE BOOSTER GIVES "FOOD FOR THOUGHT" Dear Sir: It Is rumored that the Logan Commercial Com-mercial club Is contemplating a serious ser-ious and extensive campaign to advertise ad-vertise Cache Valloy and Its many attractions nationally for both town and homo seekers and I, as one being a booster for. Cache Valloy through seeing the -wonderful benefits It brings ub all, am a staunch supporter support-er ot tho campaign as there is nothing noth-ing In the country that will compare com-pare with our national scenic attractions, attrac-tions, especially Cache Valloy or a trip from Logan to Bear Lake. We all are conscious of tho fact that Cacho Valley will bo on tho main route of tho Yellowstone park and will glvo a splendid opportunity to boosi our valley. We' all understand under-stand also that tho government, state and counties are to spond a Vast, sum ot money to Improve our highways both from, nrj attractive as 'well as a, financial stand point, but tho question ques-tion is when will this bo done and. what Is being dpne in this territory?! We all read la the Salt Lake papers pa-pers almost every day about .the new roads south ot Salt Lake now under1 construction or survey whllo We here In Cache Valley exist from day to day without any definite knowledge knowl-edge as to what we are to havo or what Is to be done. At present the main road through Wellavllle canyon la impassable, due to Bnovr, and we residents of Cache Valley are In somewhat the same condition as United tSates troops in Russia, isolated isolat-ed aa far as getting out ot the valley for four months out ot tho year. It is (rue wo can get out at present by way ot Colllnston, but wno, during the last six weeks has had occasion to travel this road which they call a main highway? The writer has had occasion to travel this road a great deal during tho past month and It Is a shame to recommend it to any man owning any kind of a car or horse drawn vehicle. From Foters-boro Foters-boro over tho hill it Is cut to pieces, washed out with ruts and culverts out, gono to such an extent that It Is dangerous to travel tho road and any one driving a car over this main road should carry a large accident policy and he might bo ubln tc stay (Continued on Page Eight) A LIVE BOOSTER GIVES "FOOD FOR THOUGHT" (Continued from pago ono) on tho rond provided ho parts his hair in the middle'. Ono placo In particular the road is entirely gone and has been for five weeks with nothing left but a halo that measures ten feet deep and ton feet wide, which Mr. Isaac M. Hansen of Brig-ham Brig-ham City had tho vory pleasant cx-pcrlenca cx-pcrlenca of driving Into with his car tho other night and it is a mystery to ovoryone how he ever got out allvo with tho car on top of him.-His him.-His car Is n wreck, also his feelings, nnd ho advises that ho Is going to bring suit against the county of Box Elder, which, duo to the publicity, will no doubt boost the main roads to Cache Valley and help bring tourists and homo scckerB to our territory. ter-ritory. Hero It Is almost May 1st. Tho cry of tho government is build roads and glvo employment to returning soldiers. Wo hear faint rumors of a paved road from Richmond to Wcllfivllle,, but Is It so nnd are wo in havo It this year or next and Is tlxsrc anything to prevent our County Commissioners Com-missioners or stato officials from dragging this road after a storm and making it somewhat passable until tho paving Is actually started. Anyone Any-one traveling over this road knows that It Is in a worse condition than it has been for two years and when anything Is said about dragging It or trying to keep it In oven a fair condition condi-tion it is "Oh that road is to bo paved", but Is it, and Is thoro any reason, why, whllo wo are waiting on the pcoplo at tho stato capltol who have our Interests much less at heart than wo of Cache valley ln keoplng tho road In a fair passable condition and not lot them go to pieces as Is now being dono until tho state sees fit to pavo It Any man knows at present the main roads throughout all this valley'are In a pooror condition than they havo been for two years and by tho tlmo wo may expect tho transcontinental trav- 'el, we will have splondld roads to offer these people and should make us feel proud of our country. I think there are a good many tax payers of Cache Valley and also Its towns who would like to know jwhat Is to bo done and what Is go-Jing go-Jing to be dono and are conscious of tho fact that it is tlmo someone or home committee traveled to our stato capltol and county court house to determine de-termine the question definitely for the sake of everyone and also to im-press im-press on theso officials that wcro elected el-ected by wo pcoplo that Wo havo the courage of our own convictions and that our policy now is to boost and got results and with three apecda forward and no reverse until we do get somo action or doflnlte understanding under-standing as to what wo may expect. Respectfully yours, A CACHE COUNTY AND LOGAN TAXPAYER |
