Show ssisnaasnnssssBaanMSSSBamansa-sst INDUCTION MAY BE CONDUCTED BY COLLEGE According to special arrangements by the authorities in charge of the Students' Army Training Corps at 'the Utah Agricultural College and the Committee on Education and Special Training ot the War department, depart-ment, the entire induction proceedings proceed-ings ot men entering the College .unit of the S. A. T. C. may bo con ducted by college and military authorities, auth-orities, according to a statement Just Issued by Captain Stephen Abbot, commanding officer. Under these arrangements, men do not need to secure induction through their local draft bourdx. They may be Inductod Individually under competent orders issued by the Provost Marshal General through the College. This shortens Induction Induc-tion proceedings materially and makes tho operation much moro convenient con-venient for men desiring induction. Both vocational and collcglito flections flec-tions at tho College may bo rilled by this method of voluntary induction induc-tion At present vory few op-nini;8 exist In tho collegiate section, and not more than two bundled men can bo accommodated In the vocational section. Of these, nearly ono hundred hun-dred may securo training as redlo ' telephone electricians. Thcso men 'r must be nineteen years of ago or over, ov-er, registrants of September 1? or, if registrants of some previous date, not In Class 1. They must have had two years ot high school work to qualify. Over ono hundrsd men may secure induction for training train-ing as carpenters',' concrete workers, work-ers, chauffeurs; auto mechanics, mechan-ics, radio experts hoseshooers, surveyors, surv-eyors, wagencrs topographllclal draughtsmen dra-ughtsmen and blacksmiths. These men must be registrants of Sopt-emeber Sopt-emeber 12 or not in Class 1 if registrants regis-trants of a prior date, and 19 years of age or over. They must possess' a j grammar school education or its eq. J ulvalent. |
