Show PLANS MADE FOR REGISTRATION Captain Francis V. Fitzgerald, executive ex-ecutive officer for Utah .for the selective se-lective draft, says that the registration registra-tion pf men of the age of 21 'since Juno 5, 1917, will be carried out with neatness and 'dispatch in this state. The registration throughout the whole country will take place according to proclamation by President Presi-dent Wilson, on June 5 nest, between be-tween the hours of 7 a. m. and 9 p. m. It Is the 'expressed wish of the war department that the widest publicity pub-licity 'be given to the regulations and instructions In connection with this call to the youth of the land. The rules laid down in pamphlet form and distributed to all draft boards cover every angle of the registration. reg-istration. ) Men of the age mentioned who live in foreign countries but who are citizens citi-zens of the United States must register reg-ister as well as the young men within with-in the borders of the United States. "All male persons," states the call "citizens of tho United States, and all male persons residing in the United Uni-ted States who have since the" 5th day of June, 1917, and on or before be-fore 'the day set for registration by the president's proclamation attained the age of 21 years must register. "The only exceptions are persons In the military or naval service of the United States, which Includes all officers and enlisted men of the regular reg-ular army, the1 navy, the marine corps and national guard and naval mllltla, while In the service of the United States, and officers in the officers of-ficers reserve corps and enlisted men in the enlisted reserve corps while in active service." Men who fail to register will be arrested and prosecuted. They will be arraigned In the United States court and it found guilty of wilfully dodging the registration will be punished pun-ished by Imprisonment for not more than one year and shall thereafter be duly registered. The registration will be handled by the local draft boards. Addition-stations Addition-stations in Salt Lake will be established estab-lished at the city and county building, build-ing, the public safety building and probably at two or three other points, the location of which will be announced later. |
