Show WELLSVILLE DEPARTMENT Weekly Letter From Southern Cache ' .......... i. Wellsvlllo, Jan. 27. On Monday night January 25, Mrs. Leonard Jones, an old pioneer of, Wellsvllle, passed away. Mrs. Jones was born In South Wales In April, 1833. She camd to Utah' from Wa'ps In 1869 and mado her home In Wellsvlllo. In 1853 she was married to Leonard Jqnes. Ocnoral debility and old. ago ,vas the. cause of hor death. Mrs. Jones Is survived by six sons nnd one. daughter, who ,wero. all at her bedside at the tlmo of her .death. Funeral Fu-neral services will bo held In the tabernacle at 1 o'clock on Thursday. The lnfunt child ot Mr. and Mrs. Loroy Parkor, 'died Tuesday of pneumonia, pneu-monia, after a brief Illness. "On Saturday morning two of our old pioneers Mr. and 'Mrs. TnomaB Lelshman narrowly escaped' death; when there was an explosion in tho Lj stovo caused by tho water pipes freezing. They had Just left tha room when th0 stovo was blown to, Pieces. Every window in tho room was blown out and chair in which Mr. Leiahman was sitting about a mlnuto before tho explosion occurred wns broken to pieces. This should be a warning t0 people of being careful care-ful In making fires when tho pipes aro frozen. ' On Thursday evening Mrs. John S. Baugh ontortnined for her husband tho ovent being his 57th birthday. About forty relatives and friends were present. A dollclous supper wns sorved and the, remalndor of the evening was spent in games, dancing danc-ing and other nmusemonts. About thirty rolatl'ves and friends gnyo a surprise party for Mrs. David A. Lolshninn on Thursday evening, Jfl January 21, It' being her birthday. Tho evening was spen1 Iri'' paying games nnd cards, after which a dainty dain-ty lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Brlghnm Maughan entertained with a dlnnor party Saturday Sat-urday evening, January 23. The evening eve-ning wos spent playing" progressiva high flvo. Those present were Mr. nnd Mrs. N. G. Allon, Mr. nnd-Mrs. Georgo Spenco, Mr. and Mrst Alfred Smurthwnlto, Mr. and Mrs. D..H. Maughan, Mr. nnd Mrs. Thomas Maughan, Dr. and Mrs. P. It. Mor--111, Mr. nnd Mrs. W. H. Maughan, Mr. nnd Mrs. Thomas Kerr, Mrs. Mnry Hendry, Mr. William Garrett. Mrs. Maughan was assisted in serving serv-ing by Miss Annie Waters nnd EMza-both EMza-both Glonn. Tho nox Elder High School won the game from South Cacho High School Friday evening by a score of 40 to 14. Tho South Cache boys' did not play their usual fast, snappy gamo but tho Box Elder team wbb bo much larger than tho South Cacno team, and that partly accounts for tho ono sided score. |
