Show STORM CONDITIONS IN NEBRASKA SI TO BE THE MSTJN RECORD Omaha, Nob., Feb. G. Somo of the railroads entering Omaha report conditions today tho worst on record. rec-ord. For tho first time in more than twenty years, not a wheel was turning turn-ing on the Chicago & Northwestern lines west of tho Missouri river, all trains having been annulled and not even snow plows being opera tod. This includes thQ Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha road and other oth-er branches of tho Northwestern system. sys-tem. Tho Burlington suspended operations op-erations on tho greater part of the Alliance branch. Tho Union Pacific has kept Its main lino open but several branches es poclally in the northern part of tho Btato wero out of business today. Itallroad men report that after many hours of hard work with rotary plows, on somo lines tho plows being run as many as seven or eight times, it was found that conditions wore no better than at tho beginning and It was decided to cease all efforts to open 'traffic until tho storm abated. |
