Show Dairy Interests R. F. Buckley, Lorenzo Hansen's processor at the local condensed milk factory, Is a most entertaining talker about his business. A short time beforo be-foro coming to Cache county, Mr. Buckley owned a condensed milk factory fact-ory in Vermont but sold to one of the bigger concerns which Is now operating operat-ing about 85 factories in various parts of the country. Ho is thoroughly familiar with tho workings of the business and is responsible in a measure meas-ure for the present delay In tho manufacture manu-facture of condensed milk at the Hansen factory, which wo understand has been put off for several weeks. Owing to tho fact that some small factory has started a cut in the prices of condensed milk, the larger concerns have entered the fight to down their disturbers, and as a result tho prlco of .mllk-lsaway down. Ho advised Mr. Mr. Hansen to wait until tho tight Is over beforo beginning operation. Tho big concerns never start a fight, invariably welcoming the small producer pro-ducer to tho field, saying there is sufficient suffi-cient loom for all and "don't cut prices." The little concerns Xisually start the scrap and aro sooii out of business. When asked whether the Hansen factory could secure all tho milk needled, need-led, he replied "yes," but said that It would lake somo tlmo to secure the quality of Jnllk desired. They must! have absolutely pure milk coming from dairymen who keep their cows, buildings and utensils In the moDt perfect condition. The barns must be kept free from refuse, properly ventilated, white washed, and surroundings sur-roundings in ttio most presentable shape, thus insuring to tho 'producer as well as user the best results. Mr. Buckley says tho cow is the best producer pro-ducer that a farmer can have and Insists In-sists that Cache county offers exceedingly exceed-ingly favorable conditions for tho farmer who desires tomako dairying his business rather than an incidental matter. Ho also says that tho condensed con-densed wilk factory Is an educator of no little inerlt. Tlicso factories will not, can not accept milk from careless producers and one tho farmer realizes tho better results from enforced cleanliness clean-liness and sanitation ho enters Into tho matter earnestly and with such pleasure that tho new order of things extends Into all tils business and relations. rela-tions. Ho is mado to keep his barns properly and ho likes tho change finally. He decides to keep his farm up better and then his residence property prop-erty must be kept In proper shapo and in the end ho becomes a cleaner, better bet-ter man in every way. Tho dairymen of the cast keep a cow for every acre Jind aro becoming independently rich, where they take the advice and Instruction of big factories and their Inspectors. |
