Tho fortieth nnnunl convention ot tho National Wool Growers' association associa-tion opened Monday In tho Tabor Grand opera house, Denver, tho meeting meet-ing being enlled to order by Jesso M. Smith, of Utah, who Is vlco president of tho association. After tho annual reports of tho officers had been read a commlttco of seven wns appointed to consider tho proposed reorganization reorganiza-tion of tho National Live Stock association, asso-ciation, with Instructions to report to tho genernl body of tho Wool Growers' Grow-ers' association at as early a dato as possible. There Is n sharp division between tho cattlemen as to the ndvlsablllty of allowing railroads and packers to havo representation in the governing body of tho association. If tho now plan, of orgnnhztlou is cnrriea through. President Frank J. Hagen-barth Hagen-barth of the I Ivo Stock nssoclatlon Is strongly In favor of admitting them, nnd ho has a numerous following. Many western stockmen, whllo not opposing tho promised organization, nro against nllowlng either rallroadB or packers to have anything to say nbout tho nffalrs of live stock men. They contend thnt tho railroads, working work-ing In conjunction with tho packers, havo compelled them to soil their cattle at tho lowest posslblo prices, nnd they object to nn alliance with olther of them. |
