Culler's veto of the appropriations for the good roads in this state view with derision the Governor's Gov-ernor's recent expressions in favor of the good loads movement. Tub Rr.-ri'iiLH Rr.-ri'iiLH an is Inclined to feel that the other appropriations should have been cut lather than that the good loads funds should have been wiped out altogether, al-together, but in all piobability tho Governor's action should be taken more as a demoiistiatlon of his disapproval disap-proval of the gcncial loose handling of the appropriation for roads latlicr than as an overt act against road improvement im-provement It Is gcneiallyconsldeicd that tho State doesn't get the best use of the money given counties for road improvement, just as the best results re-sults arc not obtained from the poll tax method of building roads, and Gov. Cutler decided toempliasle this fact. Knowing the disposition of all counties to icscnt such a cuitallmcnt, Gov. Cutler must have had some such excellent reason for his action and at the next session of the legislature will piobably have passed, if possible, some rcmedlary legislation. That the present pres-ent appropriation law and poll tax-law tax-law should bo lcpcaled is beyond question. |
