Show THE COLLEGE AGAIN. Governor Cutler has not yet appointed ap-pointed the committee to Investigate the allalis of the Agricultural College1 but it is expected his excellency will do so within a week or ten days, When the committee gets to work Truth is In a position to state there will be Lome very racy developments and things not very creditable to some of the trustees, it Is said, will bo brought to the surface Salt Lake "Truth." "Truth" has been clearly and persistently per-sistently on the wrong side of this college dilllculty from the beginning and It seems more than certain tha it Is wrong In the above. The people here have not yet learned that It is Gov. Cutler's Intention to appoint a committee to Investigate A. 0. affairs, and In all probability the committee to which Truth refers is that one whoso object will be to visit other states for the purpose of ascertaining the advisability of consolidating the A.U. of Uand U. of U. As to the latter part of Truth's assertion, as-sertion, that paper should have some excellent proof at hand before making mak-ing such a statement, but considering con-sidering the er evident lack of Information hcrctofoie It Is exceedingly exceed-ingly doubtful whether Truth ha moie than the unsubstantiated woid of some enemy of the Institution. Truth doesn't specify which trustees have done discreditable things-bordering things-bordering on tlie "iaey" and of course all must rest under the accusation. However, If, perchance, the Salt Lake publication has any such Infoimaiion as It pretends to have it should light In hammer and tongs and force the appointment of such a committee as It says fiov. Cutler has not jet named. Tiik Hki-uiimoan has fell and still feels that that whole college pioposl-Hon pioposl-Hon ought to be gone Into thoroughly. The college, Its trustees, president and ipiofessois have been accused of piac-ileallj piac-ileallj everything In tho category of crime and misdemeanor, jet when the opportunity came for substantiating tho charges, no woid was olTcicd by either side that would throw anv real light on the subject. Then In the Interest, of haimoii the whole alfair was hushed up. Hut Is It hushed? hush-ed? This Is harmony at too great cost Some of those enarges may be true i If they arc wo all want to know..ir-lf they arc not true, they should bo disproved dis-proved through a careful Investigation by a committee appointed by the Governor. The slurs hurled at this college will never cease until some drastic action is taken, and the sooner It Is taken the better. Wc believe the II IS lUKCII UIU UUklKI. " u msiiy i. U"" people directly concerned now believe this. If the trustees are not guilty, thev should demand an Investigation; If President Kerr Is not guilty of the things set out against him, he should demand an Investigation. Lets have it and have It straight, and let it go clear to the opening of the Institution. If wc can't get it any other way why not call the government's attention to the matter ind get Teddy to probe around It with his big stick That Institution has a right to live but It should live only within Its rightful right-ful capacity. If It's out of bounds, let's II nil It out and put It where It belongs. be-longs. If money has been misspent let's llnd It out. The Institution has a right to live a life untioubled by vile calumniators; it has a right to a life of usefulness not Impel lied by misrepresentation misre-presentation It Is even more essential that lt,s usefulness be not crippled by mismanagement from tho Inside. If Us trustees have been traitors to their tiust, Its time the State knew It If there ate unprincipled unprin-cipled scoundrels at work against the Institution they should be exposed. It's up to Truth to let out some of Its Information and begin to press the Governor for the appointment of that Investigating committee. |
