'H The Logau city council In regular H session Wednesday evening considered H a gieat deal of routine business. There was nothing of a particularly strenuous nature on hand. The Committee on Waterworks H after Investigating the advisability of ,H building a reservoir at the intake of jH the city water mains recommended ;H It bo passed up. The cost of this , would be about $12,000. Tho com- ,H in It tee recommended that the' city j take steps towatd extending the pre- sent mains toward the river, which ; would give a better supply and a pressure of water. The cost of this Is estimated at 2.",000. The report was H accepted but it was decided to not iH adopt the suggestions until surveys iH arc made and a full Investigation com- C. II. Champ and other property IH holders representing 8:t;.,V feet front- age asked for a cimctit sidewalk Uvo feet wldo on the cast, south and west H side of block 17. This was referred to jH the Committee on streets. These H people wanted to rush the matter jH through so that the walk could be iH built this fall, but the delay may jH make It Impossible now. H On motion of Councilman Carlisle jH the Committee on Sttects was until H orlcd to confer with tho county to H sec If a bridge might be constructed H acioss Logan river near the sugar H factory. The city contemplates open- jH ing the street west of the city park jjH going south. -Tho committee was H given power to ask. H The Committee on Waterworks re- jf commended that the petition of John H W. Cowley and others for the cxtcn- jH slon of water mains on Second North H street as far out as Fifth or Sixth jf West streets bo granted, the extcn- H slon stopping 184 feet from the west line of nth west stiect. This will cost H U 20 per Edwin Pcako and others sent In a jH petition asking the council to remedy conditions which -are spoiling the cement walk on First North between Main and First West streets. The iH water runs under this walk and is H causing samo to sink In places. The matter was referred to the Committee on Waterworks. Don C.
